I forgot I watched a show a while back called Unit 42 on Netflix. It’s a Belgian procedural that’s pretty solid. I’d give it a 3.0.

Seems like a good time for a bump considering folks will probably be looking for something to watch over the next few weeks.

Just finished Baptiste, a French/English production based on the detective from the original series The Missing on starz. Solid story, and I love Karyo. I’d give it a 3.5. Unfortunately I don’t think you can legally stream it on any platform in the states. I downloaded it from RARBG, for those that might be interested, and it had the foreign subs burned in.

About to s start watching the Icelandic series The Valhalla Murders on Netflix, and will report back once I’ve finished.

I really enjoyed The Missing and the Baptiste character. Will have to check it out if I can find it.

PSA: Marcella S.3 is now on Netflix. Out of all the latest seasons I need to watch across various shows, this is the one I’m currently most excited about.

Also, adding a rating of 3.5 for Black Spot, which is subject to change pending a Season 3. Seasons 1 and 2 were good, but there are still so many loose ends it’s hard to opine conclusively.

Also, since my hiatus from the thread, I watched season 2 of Sinner. My original rating remains the same: very watchable season on par with the first in my opinion.

Really glad I found this thread. Just finished Deadwind and thought it was fantastic: 4.5
Black spot gets a 4.
Giri/haji was great as well: 4.
There are tons of threads on Dark, but since it's being rated here I'll give it a 5.
The Tunnel's 3 seasons are 4, 3.5, then 3
Broadchurch was incredible: 4.5.

Now I think I'll move on to case or parfum.

Incorporated your ratings and added Giri/Haji, which looks interesting.

I guess I'm finishing The Americans next, that seems to be the consensus, but I left off in Season 3, somewhat underwhelmed.

Added both yours and Freauxzen's.

Also, added the new Netflix thriller, The Stranger (4/5)

I thought it was fantastic. Unbeknownst to me when I first started watching it, the source material is from a book by Harlan Coben. Coben is the author of another book, Tell No One, that Guillaume Canet made into a French thriller film. While I haven't read Tell No One the book, Tell No One the film is one of my favorites of all time.

Not sure why the French like Coben so much, but Coben novels No Second Chance and Just One Look were also the basis for two French miniseries.

Coben was then the creator of two British miniseries, The Five and Safe (which weren't based on books), while the British miniseries I added, The Stranger, was based on one of his books.

Finally, the Poles have turned his novel, The Woods, into a miniseries of the same name.

All of the above miniseries are mysteries/thrillers and it appears that most, if not all, of them are available on Netflix.

Let me also say that season 2 of Deadwind was just as good as the first and this remains one of my favorite series within this genre

quote:

The three films (currently on Hulu)
The Keeper of Lost Causes
The Absent One
A Conspiracy of Faith

Also, I just learned that they created a fourth episode/film in the series called The Purity of Vengeance, but I don’t think has been released yet.

I need to circle back and watch this one. It looks like it's been released as "Journal 64":

Now I'll add:

Case: 3.5. It was great in spurts but clunky in others. And I was a bit disturbed that the girls involved were like 14.

The Break S1: 4
The Break S2: 3

Parfum: 4
Really well done, but could've been 8 episodes instead of 6. I thought they rushed the end.

The frozen dead: 3.5

Reckoning - 0.5

Just a bad, unconvincing, disjointed, and overall poorly done show. It wants to be a dark serial killer story so bad and it fails miserably. Busted out laughing at the final scene (it wasn't meant to be funny).

The Stranger - 3.5
Giri/Haji - 4.5

Can't rate it yet but I'm enjoying HBO's new mystery thriller The Third Day. Interesting folklore/midsommar festival like story about a man that gets stuck on a mysterious island. 3 episodes so far.
