The more I have been thinking about this movie, the more I believe that there was some divine being at work rather than highly evolved humans from the future. There were A LOT of religious undertones in this movie.

Just lie like most of the people on this thread and say you understood everything in this movie.

This movie was everything I wanted it to be and more. I absolutely loved it. It's all i imagined a Christopher Nolan sci-fi space movie would be and he delivered.
I couldn't agree more. Nolan delivered a great film. I think we can put this one right up there next to 2001.
Also, I rarely go to see a movie in theaters twice, but last night I did. I really enjoyed it more the second time; you need time to process what is going on.

After reading that thread yesterday, I feel like I could make every movie seem like it has religious undertones.

Two completely different movies. Interstellar is growing on me as I understand more about it. The biggest thing about Interstellar that disappointed me was I was expecting better space visuals and not close up shots of a space ship most of the time. I've done some research on the movie and found out that it actually didn't have a huge budget. $160 million. Small considering TDKR had a budget of $230 million.
This movie is more like Inception than I thought it was going to be in that it was more of a mystery than a space movie, IMO. The more I research it, the more I like it. It's meant to test the mind more than the average movie, and for that I give it a lot of credit.

I can't fairly compare them.

Question. The chick played by Hathaway has all of that genetic material with them in the ship that they leave earth in, right?
On the icy planet, Matt Damon steals that ship and explodes it, yet she still sets up a colony with it at the end on the new planet. Wasn't the genetic material destroyed in the ship with Jason Bourne?

The ship had like 12 different compartments. I think only one was destroyed in the explosion, and I'm sure they put that well out of range of the docking bay just in case.

The 12 different compartment ship was the space station thingy that they docked into. Originally, they left earth with the genetic material in the small ship that was destroyed in the explosion.
But yes, I guess during the long flight they could have moved it out of the original small ship and into the multi compartment ship. However this wouldn't make sense bc you would think when they went down to the ice planet, they would have the genetic material with them in the small ship in case they stay on the planet to form a colony.

Just got home from this movie. It was fantastic. Not sure what else to say.
The only thing I would have liked some explanation of at the end was apparently they developed the ability to travel at much greater speeds. Otherwise, why would Coop have gone after Brand. She was at least a galaxy away, if not more, it would take him forever to get there.

I've seen the movie once and that is my only complaint. I admit, I've only seen it at the Elmwood non-IMAX theater. I think it's a 4k screen, but not IMAX. I'll probably see it again to see if IMAX makes a difference. I was expecting a greater visual experience, including more grand/slow moving shots.
Overall, great movie that felt slightly busy with plot twists. Will see again, and retain fanboy status with all things Nolan.

The wormhole was not closed. They picked him up right outside of the wormhole near saturn. I guess they were approaching it themselves.
He stole a ship to go into the wormhole and head for the planet she was colonizing i guess.

That was the point. He was attempting to find a needle in a haystack, and it was unlikely that he would ever locate Brand. However, the film made it clear that Cooper was an anachronism, and never quite meshed with the established society on Earth. He was an explorer, and at the end of the film, he finally had an opportunity to set out on his own.
Brand's case was essentially hopelessly, as it was unlikely that she would ever come into contact with another human from Earth.
