Show was starting to fall off, but they killed it tonight. Definitely the 2nd best episode of the series for me.

It seems like he was arrested two weeks ago and we're already at trial?

I thought that after a great start and bad episodes 2-3 the show has been good. Not unbelievable but definitely entertaining and solid.

It's been longer than two weeks. You can tell by how much more muscular Naz is from the night he was arrested.

I haven't seen any specific indication of how much time has passed. I'd say 2 weeks is the minimum. I have no idea what they IRL time should be.

As bloody a mess as her bedroom was wouldn't Naz have been covered in blood?
The most overlooked part of the series. You can't stab someone ~20 times (24?) and not be drenched in blood. Nas had some on him, but not THAT much.

This show totally went off the rails tonight.
I was a huge fan of the defense attorney objecting to a question and the judge having nothing to say and the trial rolling on.
No mention of Duane Reade.
Stone finally decided to look into the stepfather after the trial starts.
fricking Naz getting knuckle prison tats and smoking coke.
Just awful writing.

And I like that we have 2 episodes left (i.e 25% of the entire series) and we've touched upon all of the suspects. People on TD were worried about the characters ending up being final ep shockers, but the stepfather AND the hearse driver were brought up as suspects. We're running out of "THAT DUDE DID IT" suspects that haven't been investigated, which is a good thing with 2 hours left in the series.

Agree on the first part, disagree with the rest of your post.
REALLY stupid to try to look like a criminal (shaving your head, getting visible tats, especially tats that say "SIN").
I don't think his smoking coke (I assumed it was crack) makes a difference unless they drug test prisoners. I doubt that ever happens, specifically because it makes the people imprisoning people look incompetent.

So I was being told this wasn't a who done it show but this episode certainly felt like a who done it show. Also no mention of Duane Reed. In trial. Still investigating. WTF is going on here

I think you are missing the point.
If Naz is innocent, this is showing how the system pulled in a good kid and turned him bad.
Referring to an earlier post, the prosecutor is lame in court because all they do is put down heat and force pleas. They don't go to trial that often.
This is David Simon type commentary. The cops want to close cases and the prosecutors want pleas.

If you're in jail trying to beat a murder rap you didn't do, you don't get fricking knuckle tats that say "sin."
The system didn't pull this dude in. He ended up at some randos house doing drugs and fricking and shite went bad. Shaving his head and getting finger tats was all him and regardless I don't think it makes for good television.
We're going into episode 7 of an 8 episode show and I've seen multiple shots of a dead dude's dick and John Turturro's rotting feet but the defendants lawyers neglected to look into the dead girls family until after the trial started. It's shitty writing.

The DA attorney is beyond awful. Seriously she must have dirt on the creator of this series or be related to them.
I can't even bare to watch when she's in a scene

Looks like Freddy is smoking opium, not crack, in the opening scene

You do realize that if Nas doesn't try to fit in with his social surroundings that he's a dead man. By earning his trust it's helping him in his everyday life in prison.
Or maybe like Freddy mentioned he got pinned for murder so he could be moved to Rikers. What if he's using Nas for his use outside of prison and gets someone from his crew to get taken down for the murder. Showing you can become a criminal coming out of prison and innocent going in.

The DA attorney is good. She's supposed to be monotone like that

Man, it's hard to argue with anything you said. I'm almost to the don't care point with the show. Thought it was going to be much better. BTW, no explanation on how the Duane Reed situation ended? Was he even mentioned?

I think Freddy is gonna pull some shite on Nas

Yeah man I get all of that. But the problem is, is that I don't really give a frick. It's a TV show right? So I'm supposed to be entertained? I'm fricking not.
I already knew the prison system was fricked up and that spending any sort of significant time in an American jail/prison was going to result if a person being fricked up to some extent.
I already knew that the criminal justice system in America was fricked up. Casey Anthony is fricking walking around somewhere.
I kept watching the show because I was hoping that there'd be some type of whodunit factor to even out the SJW "American criminal justice is bad" bullshite. And there isn't. There's a ton of scenes of rotting feet and dead black dongs and dudes playing with cats, but like let's ignore the fact that this lawyer chased a suspect down an actual dark alley. That went completely unmentioned this week.
And yeah I get that Freddy is keeping him safe and comfortable in return for favors. But Naz also swallowed like 4 bags of dope straight out of some fat black woman's sweaty snatch while meeting with the lawyer in his murder case for Freddy. I don't think Freddy is gonna give him a bunch of shite for passing on the knuckle tats.
The lawyers defending a guy in a murder case apparently didn't look into the victim's family until after the trial started. The lawyer took a video of two people arguing at the dead girl's funeral and then never bothered to look into it? Then why the frick did he record them?
Why is the Indian female lawyer objecting to questions during the trial and the judge doesn't rule on the objection?
Why is the detective visiting the kid's former HS and looking at his FB and LinkedIn during the trial? Shouldn't all this have been done already?
It's just bad. People fricking railed on the last two episodes of TDS1 and all of TDS2 and this shite is far worse than any of that.
