was a cliche "I'll say what you want me to say" scene. I'm less and less impressed with the writing in each episode. I don't mind a lot of character development if it leads somewhere and is relevant, but It's becoming obvious that they are riding the momentum of a solid pilot without any substance to the rest of the show. They might be able to save it with a twist and a strong ending but I'm not holding my breath at this point.
This pretty much sums up my feelings as well

Freddy wanted the girl dead and ordered the hit from prison and is now going to make sure that Naz takes the fall is my prediction.

I'm with you that Freddy is behind it but I also think the stepdad is involved somehow. The few scenes he has been in have been too strange.

Again, it seems like y'all are expecting True Detective S3 out of this mini series and that isn't even remotely what this show was supposed to be about.

To me the most amazing part of the show was the jail drug smuggling operation.
You've gotta be joking

I'm wasnt expecting anything specific, just after the first episode it's been a little disappointing. Nowhere have I said it's a bad show or that I won't keep watching. It just hadn't been as good as I thought it would be

I'm perfectly fine with this show wanting to show the justice system in full circle. But when it's a show about a violent murder and the main detective has only had what, 20 minutes of screen time in the last 4 episodes combined and all he's accomplished is that the step dad didn't have a relationship with Andrea and mapping out where Nas was that night?
They can easily keep all the jail scenes, the DA scenes, the law firm scenes in the show. Just take out half of the eczema and cat scenes and replace it with Box actually investigating the crime and this show is better

So Freddy arranges for the girl to get into Naz's cab?
quote:Absolutely. Is this a stretch for you to believe?
Then for Naz to get into his unit at Rikers?

Until Snyder gets involved in this show, it won't quite reach that level

Yea this show is really polarizing. I want to like it so bad...
Despite all my bitching, its still great tv and better than 99% of everything thats on. It's just that HBO (and showtime, amc & Netflix to an extent) has set the bar so high with their original shows that a show like The Night Of can feel like such a let down.

Yea, I really enjoy like 85% of the show. All I am asking is less eczema/cat/viagra and more Box

I don't know what everybody is bitching about. I'm enjoying the show.
Its been 5 weeks and the show hasnt really gone anywhere. These 5 episodes would only be 3 episodes if they left out the feet and prostitution scenes.

He's not gonna be the killer
Calling it now
There's 4 episodes left

This show is so full on SJW I can make you a few promises.
They've slacked up a good bit since the start. Even then, most of the stuff they have mentioned makes sense. It isn't like they're shoehorning in an agenda. Thugs make fun of him for his ethnicity...happens all the time. Analyzing potential backlash for a minority committing a high-profile crime...happens a good bit. The first two episodes were a little heavy at times on that angle but since they've gone away from it IMO.

I'm not gonna lie, the series has not lived up to the premiere. That first episode was one of the best episodes of television that I've ever seen. So intense.
I thought the first 2 episodes were weak. I was about to give it up then my fiance put on E3 and it drug me back in.
I don't really expect any grand twist or reveal but I do believe that in the end this will be more "whodunit" than "SJW crusade".

This doesn't have to happen for the plot twist. It could easily be bad timing for Naz, and Freddy has to deal with it the best way he knows.
I think it's probably more likely that the step dad was involved than Freddy. Freddy's character is probably just there for the prison angle and not involved in the murder.

I don't need a show for this. That's why I watch television and not a documentary like making a murderer.
this show is not anything remotely close to a documentary. It is showing us what it's like inside Rikers, the slow moving justice system and a murder mystery all wrapped in one. No one is forcing you to watch it.
quote:
you are going to be extremely disappointed when there's no plot twist except maybe john turturo's feet healing. jesus Christ this show is dogshit
hopefully you stop watching and the last 3 episodes actually get back into the murder in itself. Again, they are going to court, so things are about to come to light IMO.

Not sure if this has been said but Naz kicked the inmate 21 times brutally and anyone wanna guess how many times Andera was stabbed?

just saw it last night and pretty much what you guys have been saying sums up my feelings.
after the first episode i was 100% in, but have been dissapointed since.
its good dont get me wrong, but i feel like they waste so much time on stupid shite and throw out random stuff that doesnt even make sense. like putting the picture next to the dead guys dick. ok we get it.
also the DA. that chick looks like a man and might be the worst actress since Leslie Jones. i feel like she is a cousin or family member of the writer. i cant imagine her in the audition for that role and everyone just looking at each other saying "OMG we found her".
i really wish this was more on Box and the investigation vs jail time and the stupid feet/viagra crap.
like someone said, its still better than 99% of crap on TV, however it had so much potential after the 1st episode

quote:have you ever thought that Box has already made up his mind about this murder? He's basically just following the prosecutions guidelines at this time. He's definitely not trying to find a way to "help Naz". Just look at how the prosecution looks at the fact that the two guys were booted from naz's cab that night. Yet, he allows Andrea to get into his taxi.

Along with the fact that Naz's "good boy" characteristics are wiped away because of amphetamines

Up until this episode I wasn't sure Naz had it in him to do something so violent, starting to make me wonder if he really did it now.
Also, was the "Duane Reed" name coincidence really necessary?
