It's not the same without Leslie.
No it wont be. His delivery was so perfect. I'll still give it chance but TBH this one line gag from him still makes me laugh harder than anything in that trailer.

Liam's not bad, but I don't know if he can pull of the comedic chops to carry a movie like this.
Trailer was pretty funny though, but it seems like this could be one where the trailer has all of the funny parts of the movie so nothing is surprise

Again, he absolutely does:
FB video of LN improvisational comedy.

Fell flat for me too. There were a couple ok points, but feels kind of forced- doesn't have the same flow of the original.

I think it’s gonna fail. Sorry but Liam is not a comedian nor is he clumsy. It just does not seem to fit. I am going to wait after yall watch it and give your thought on here.

I think so too. I went to the movies this weekend and they played the Naked Gun trailer. Not a single person in a packed theater laughed. It was awkward.
That style of humor is hard to pull off and whatever the frick they tried to do during the bank robbery scene is literally not it.

No way it has anything on the level of this scene
I’m just impressed the city of Los Angeles had the foresight to specifically make “Sexual Assault With a Concrete Dildo” a crime in advance of this incident.

The more footage that comes out the weaker it looks.

I wanted to laugh more than I did.

You're probably right that's it's not going to be received well, but it's worth noting that prior to Airplane! Leslie Nielsen already had a long career as a dramatic actor.
(That movie also similarly starred more "serious" actors Peter Stack and Lloyd Bridges.)
In other words, the whole idea of a deadpan protagonist who lacks a sense of humor and doesn't get the jokes is part of the schtick.

That looks surprisingly good. Nice to see Pam Anderson put the makeup back on too.

As a kid that was the hardest I have ever laughed at a movie scene.

It certainly is hard to pull off. Where the original excels is that it comes across as an unintentional funny- like they're not trying to be funny, it's just the result. This trailer isn't like that- it's obvious they're trying hard to be funny. That's what makes it fall flat.
Sometimes you just need to let sleeping dogs lie and come up with something new rather than keep trying to rehash anything that had a modicum of success in the past.

The genius of Frank Drebin though is he is deadpan, but not emotionless. He smiles a lot in naked gun, shows fear, embarrassment, doubt, joy.
It’s an impossible act to follow, but I hope they don’t confuse deadpan comedy with an emotionless Bruce Wayne impression.

Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's my policy.Mayor: That was a Shakespeare in the Park production of Julius Caesar, you moron! You killed 5 actors! Good ones!!

It seemed like everything was intentional in the originals. Give us an example of what you are talking about.

This is a pretty good example of what he is talking about, I think:

What is unintentionally funny about that scene? The "Mans Laughter" joke in the trailer is just like the joke in this scene.
