Now this isn't as much a critique of preston anymore so much as the movie in general

Downvoted. Can't Hardly Wait is beyond criticism.

Great movie, very quotable, and I'm amazed at how many people haven't seen it.

I haven't seen this movie in many many years, but isn't that the point?

You missed the entire point of the movie.

The real story is about the peak, break-up, and reunion of the seminal rock band Loveburger and it's impact on society in the late 90's.

That movie had so many recognizable faces. Looking back that's a hell of a cast.

sorta. You have Mike Dexter, the big bad jock bully that we're supposed to hate. You've also got the nerds, a wanker, the token minorities, the stoners, etc. just like every other stereotypical HS movie. Then you have Preston, the regular, everyday, john q normal guy that we're supposed to empathize with. Of course he gets the girl, that's a trope as old as time and I'd expect nothing less. My biggest point was just HOW infeasible that is, and how desperate he acts. Once again, she didn't even know his name. She had no idea who he was. This is after 4 years of school together and even sitting next to each other for an entire semester one year. It's not just that they weren't friends or antyhign, they were total strangers. When she gets the letter at the end, for all intents and purposes it was a letter from a complete and total stranger she had never met before in her life. That's what I found to be so preposterous. Then reading a letter from a stranger would convince her in a matter of minutes to now get with this guy (and make up with him in the train station). It was just so over the top.

And once again, I'll reiterate from the OP that I did enjoy the movie and found several moments LOL worthy. I don't dislike the movie, I jsut didn't remember preston being such a complete loser.

First time I saw it I totally empathized with Preston as you're supposed to. Its funny. Plus Peak Jenna Elfman in stripper angel costume.

Saw it a few weeks back and i got sad. Mostly because now that im older ive learned a sad reality when it comes to women. Best way to get someone like JLH? Do nothing. There is no letter writing, no bold romantic gesture, no over the top display of affection that will get a woman like thats attention. You just wait till they say whats up and off you go.

What im trying to say is that life experience takes the piss out of fun movies and, yeah, its kinda sad.

I think we should take a moment of respect to peak Jamie Pressley from that movie. She was smoking!
