I always got along with David.

He was older than people give him credit for. Turned him on to the bud. Marko used to buy almost every other day.

Yeah, they were better than Barlow..or those goddamn weirdos. You know, after their 1st lovers quarrel they let the slaves burn down their plantation..we should have all came together and stepped in before they had another one and burned down the Quarter.

Underrated movie of hers was Less Than Zero. One of the few flicks where I actually read the book before seeing the movie and it didn't disappoint with Jami, Spader and Robert just slaying their roles. McCarthy didn't have the acting chops to keep up with those 3 especially when Robert went full blown method for his part.

Also release in 1987
Love this movie
I disagree about McCarthys acting tho.

Another really good soundtrack
Including one of my favorite from The Bangles
Hazy Shade of Winter
(Video includes movie scenes)

How is the book?
Read American Psycho, hoping that it would make things….. well…. less ambiguous
It definitely was not
It was still good, but so was the movie

The book was pretty good that I remember, but it's been 30 or more years and I have to say the movie made the lasting impression on me. Yes partly because Jami was every 80's teen boy's fantasy, but when you got past that you realized something special was going on with Spader and Downey Jr. Like next level acting in those crack pipe scenes. As realistic as it gets for a relatively low budget movie. They nailed that late 80's drug and fast lane lifestyle.

Excellent in a fricking disturbing way.

The whole thing is about the vapid Southern Cali culture where everyone is chasing the next high, which can involve people doing some truly fricked up stuff.

Julian’s arc is generally the same as in the movie but Clay and his girlfriend aren’t nearly as saintly in the book.

How Keifer survived this long is nothing short of a miracle. He must get blood transfusions from Keith Richards.

True story…

I was going to see this movie for about the third time. I was at the Essen Lane theater, at the candy counter, I look over and see Dianne Wiest next to me. She heads into the theater showing “The Lost Boys”.

There was maybe 10 people in the theater for that movie. (It had been out for quite some time).
