It's an insult to brown people that producers think they're incapable of appreciating white fantasy unless they change the characters to brown people, that's my opinion.

The obsession with black actors is weird. I saw Latin and Asian actors in the show, yet I see no mentions abt that.

They were both pretty good. I haven’t read any of the books just watched the trilogies plus the animated films.

I feel like people should just watch and enjoy it even if it’s not following the works close enough for you.

finally watched both episodes.

if Amazon was expecting this to be the next Game of Thrones, they have utterly failed.

the characters are unrelatable...they are either too cartoonish or too idealistic.

what got people hooked on GoT was that people connected with the characters who were very realistic...viewers were simply outraged when Jamie tossed Bran out of that Tower and wanted revenge. Likewise, when Ned lost his head, people went absolutely batshit with hatred for the Lannisters.

this show has none of that....just another wheel of time. its bad.

How many episodes are there in a season? Thus far, the plot has barely moved an inch in the first two episodes.

6 episodes, but more importantly, about 50 hrs total of a story that has already been drafted and laid out, from start to finish. It was posted online somewhere, they already have the final scene of the final episode written. They are not going to cancel the show, they are not going to extend it beyond the initial 5 seasons, it will be what they intend.

So, that being said, I expect it will have it's own pace, and likely very easy on the binge aspect later. They will introduce the basics first, then fill in the layers, and give us various bits of story-building, before they kick into the action in depth. And then, I suspect the action will be paced well and it will finish in a solid rhythm, with nothing either rushed, or lagging behind.
Can they do that, it remains to be seen; but they have the template.

I’ve just watched the first and going to sit with it for a bit before I watch the second.

It was enjoyable, but pretty slow (I realize it picks up in the second episode).

Having only read a little bit of Tolkien years ago and watched the movies, it’s interesting to see a “younger” Elrond and Galadriel.

Not sure about this, but at some point, did the Meteor Man/Stranger start speaking the Black Speech? I think I heard some ash mentioned.
Also, the star constellation with the fireflies; is there anything other than the Sickle of the Valar noted? I guess Earendil, but that should be a lone star.

The constellation (and we know the Harfoots to be diligent observers of the night sky) is one that Nori Brandifoot has never seen. If we were discussing a time after the fall of Numenor, then I would say that, since Middle Earth is in the Northern Hemisphere, stars that Nori can't see must only be visible further south. That would confirm that Meteor Man is likely looking for the Southlands, as Nori has already divined that there is trouble to the south.

But Arda is still flat at this point, though I don't know if that's the case in this show. And I am not a flat-earther, so I don't know how to think about the movements of the stars on a flat earth.

Humans definitely are more realistic than dwarves, elves, and hobbits.

That was episode 9, of course you cared about the character more. Also, this isn't going to be Game of Thrones season one good. No one ever thought it would be that good going in and no one is saying it is now. That was one of the best seasons in the history of television. If you compare every show to season one of Game of Thrones, every fantasy show is going to fall way short.

I'm not even sure if I'm going to watch this whole season, but two episodes in and it is 100x better than WoT. Wheel of Time was garbage, all around. Acting, story, costumes, everything. And WoT production isn't even on the same planet as this LOTR. This is movie quality good production.

Kind of, but not really

I enjoyed them for what they were. A view inside the lord of the rings universe.

The first two episodes were fine. If the rest of the season is as exciting, im checking out.

First episode did a lot of wxpositional heavy lifting

I think The second episode definitely set things in motion.

Elrond is going to be dealing with Celebrimbor’s tower. The Harfoota need to figure out meteor man. There are bro sun and Aradin gotta deal with the tunneling orca and Likely Galadriel is going South to look for Sauron.

For the folk that isn't Tolkiens kin or die hard followers.

Wasn't Elrond married to Galadriel daughter? How are they so similar in age in this show?

I agree, the whole woke agenda crap is ruining these otherwise really good shows. Having or wanting to include minorities in this world I think can be done in a much more discreet manner, but they're giving them major roles that would basically belong to White characters. It just takes away from the show for me.

I’m not going to touch on the abortion of Galadriels character as I think that’s a dead horse.

I’ll just mention my two favorite parts of the show through two eps.

The ents watching the meteor fall, I love little 5 second scenes like that.

Real in-costume orcs. No matter how bad the writing or wokeism is, I’ll always perk up at live action orcs.

Other than that, I hate the harfoots and I hate the forced interracial relationships

Why the absolute frick would there be a black dwarf? They don’t see the sunlight for 99% of their lives, it’s forced bullshite
