Not at all. Just lots of ambiguous WTF is actually happening moments but the story flows in an intensely peaceful and engaging pace.

Hard to believe it but you really care about everyone in it by the end of the series.

Probably my favorite thing about the show is how they used music. Some amazing mainstream rock played on a classical piano throughout, and it always works.

Ive watched it 3x. Last time with the wife and she was blown away. She NEVER gets hooked on shows.

The way they approach life, death, purpose, and happiness is so real.

Good to know, thanks for the info.

So it seems like a show similar to Lost (not surprising), where it's more about the characters and the ride than the destination... Is there any resolution with what actually happened, or is that just open ended and unanswered?

Yes. There is a resolution. or is there?

Its a very well thought out show that was planned, with a satisfying ending I'll put it that way.

Word. I think I may give it a shot then. I've always had it in my mind as a show I'd like to watch one day, but this is the most praise I've really seen for it in one place, and it has me intrigued. And if the end is satisfying enough, then I'll be good with it. I don't need every single thing answered (although some answer or reasons behind the literally crux of the show would be nice ).

I just recently started a rewatch of Lost, so that fills most of my free TV time. But I'm watching it with my 19 year old stepdaughter and she's about to move back to campus soon, so Lost will slow down dramatically and I should have some time to catch The Leftovers if I decide to do that.

Preciate the info, everybody. Hopefully I'll enjoy it as much as I did Black Sails.

The acting and pacing runs laps around Lost.

Since it is 3 seasons, they don't send you on any pointless goose chases, and there's no constant dialogue that you don't care about.

Dang. Happy I found this thread.

I’m still in season 1 but if this is the worst season, then I’m pumped because I dig it

I don't know if I've ever watched a show that is this confounding and all over the place, based solely on the faith that those that replied to me in this thread said it was worth it.

I find it frustrating, but can't stop thinking about what happens next.

I haven’t heard of this til just now looking at this thread. I see on Google it’s a 2014 tv series with just 3 seasons. Why is it just gaining traction now?

I wouldn't say it is. Its just a really good show that people discover every once in awhile.

I'm not sure it's really gaining traction outside of this 3 page thread

I was watching it when it originally came out and tried to get people to watch it as often as I could. It was before HBO Max obviously and HBO didn't really promote it that great.

It was the type of show that the Emmy's should have loved but they pretty much ignored it. In three years it got one Emmy nod and that was for Ann Dowd as a guest actress. There is no way in hell Justin Theroux or Carrie Coon didn't deserve a best actor/actress nomination. They were both incredible.

If you google best HBO shows, it's typically near or at the top of every list. It's almost more of a cult classic popular, not mainstream I guess.

Ill add it also didnt cater towards any HBO audience. Its a very heady show, and doesnt rely on any gratuitous nudit/violence like so many of their other hits.

One of the best shows ever made. Just watch it. It's deep so if you are into fluff or can't figure out shows with nuances it may not be for you.
