Showed Bill and Frank’s part in sustaining Joel and Tess (and likely others). Establishing more of Joel and Tess’s movements earlier in the story. Showed what would likely happen if you had the opportunity to create a full on compound like Bill and in part Frank did. And how that works here.

So you're saying the entire episode wasn't useless because of the portions that could have been covered in 10 minutes of flashbacks?

Ok I guess.

I feel like there wouldn’t be these complaints if this was about a straight couple

They didn't take any, except for the gun Ellie hid away.

You’re the ones saying it’s useless. I’m saying it’s not. Folks are allowed to have a difference of opinion.

I haven’t played the games, so I’m not hung up on where they differ.

My only complaint is I was hoping we’d get more of both actors, especially Offerman, later in the series since they killed off Anna Torv.

Would have been infinitely better, but still useless.

If that were the case, I might not have skipped past 75% or more of the episode.

Man imagine getting triggered over gays in 2023, y’all are the modern day version of people who threw a fit when an interracial couple was shown on TV

It was an 80 minute episode and you highlighted maybe 10 minutes of it to explain why it isn't useless.

You're making an opposite argument from what you think you are.

Nope. No matter what tv show you watch. It's shoved down your throat.

Except I’m not. The good majority of that episode did what I said it did. Particularly establishing the existence of humanity in a post-apocalyptic world.

But I can only assume you’re someone who played the game that’s annoyed by it since you’re also in the other thread. Not sure why you’re here if you’re over there as well.

It's always weird when someone tries to equate gay people with straight people of different races. They're not similar guy. Your point is nonsensical.

This was already established simply by multiple people going out of their way to get Ellie out of town...which is obviously far more important than two dudes having a 20-year relationship.

Nah I don't own a Playstation, I just don't care about spoilers for this show. That said, I also haven't seen any spoiler in the thread so I dunno what we're supposed to be protecting.

So this is why this episode was getting such critical acclaim? Because of the gay stuff.

Makes sense

Sure it'll win a bunch of awards, further diluting the gravitas of said awards.

So what happened to the raiders?

They didn’t all die or get caught on fire… they were ready to break into the compound .

This was the best episode by far and imo took the show to the next level. Specifically iin the area of emotional depth. Sure it only mildy advanced the main character and got them a vehicle, but it was a great episode as a standalone in the world.

Sorry the bad gay men triggered so many of you.

My main gripe with the episode was Frank the “survivalist” coming out of cover into the middle of the street to engage multiple hostiles. Come the frick on people jesus.

I haven’t played the game. I know nothing going into this show. That episode was boring. The drawn out slow gay love stuff was just awful. The other two episodes were just ok. Seems like run of the mill apocalyptic zombie type stuff. The show has yet to grab me at all. Hopefully it will.

You don’t THINK?!?! (sarcasm)

It was a nice episode, about maintaining humanity in the face of the end of the world. And the couple who managed to do so happened to be … gasp … homoSEXuals (clutch pearls).
