Finn served plenty of purpose in Force Awakens. I don’t get the hate. I’ll be interested in his story from this point on to see where it goes, but he was an important catalyst in Rey’s story in Force Awakens.

that was appropriately vague, haha, but is what I wanted to hear. I am more worried about the movie continuing the soft reboot model and copying too much from Empire, so I’m relieved to know that is not the complaint. He and his story seem to fit nowhere in the film... Why does Shia character even exist? That what made the roginsl 3 so great, there were very little wasted/shoehorned in characters or screentime, especially in the first two.
Finn is a complete forced character that will probably take up story that could otherwise be devoted to fleshing out the primary players.

I would also like to add people who want to dictate what the story is and are disappointed it doesn’t go the way they want. Film is a passive medium. The only thing you should be concerned with is whether you like it or not. Trying to reengineer a movie is a waste of time

I think it will be OK. I don't think it's going to blow anyone away but I have a feeling it will be a solid entry to the franchise

From day one there has never been any indication whatsoever that Rian Johnson has done anything other than knock the ball out of the park and as we have crept closer to the release date, everything seems to be pointing in that direction even more so.
