I think you could say the same about the sequel trilogy as a whole.

Personally I feel that while TFA was a good movie, it takes the post RotJ era in a direction that I don't particularly agree with or find incredibly logical.

Yeah the direction was off to me too plus there was too much inappropriate humor, like when they are sneaking around on star killer base not taking the whole thing particularly seriously, cracking jokes and such.

Looking forward to TLJ though, loved Rian's other movies.

That whole part of the movie felt rushed. They encountered no resistance whatsoever on their way to turning off the shield. That's highly unlikely unless the First Order is the galaxy's most incompetent military force.

My beef with the post RotJ universe is how bleak everything is. The New Republic was established after blowing up the second death star. Mon Mothma immediately calls for disbanding the military and everything we know about the New Republic thus far was that it was a weak, poorly functioning government more full of "greedy, squabbling delegates" than the Old Republic ever was.

There was no new Jedi Order around to keep the peace in the absence of any real military force of note. So far as we know, Luke spends the next 25 or so years collecting artifacts on the fringes of galactic space, only deciding to establish a new jedi order about 5 or so years before TFA the result of which is Kylo destroying everything.

Han and Leia are separating, probably not having seen each other in years. No one knows where Luke is. R2D2 is sitting on D'Qar literally collecting dust.

The New Republic (the culmination of the entirety of the original trilogy)is blown to bits in the first hour of TFA after having virtually no screentime whatsoever. The name of the planet wasn't even mentioned (only "the Hosnian System" some time later) and most casual movie goers thought it was Coruscant just because it kind of looked like it. It probably should have been Coruscant unless Disney plans to revisit that planet in a future film as not only does it make the most sense to be the capital of the New Republic, it is also a planet the audience has some relation with.

What is the dynamic between the New Republic and the First Order? It is inferred that The First Order has various planets on the edges of the galaxy under its control. Is the First Order officially recognized as a government by the New Republic? Is the New Republic really content with letting what is essentially a group of space Nazis chill out on the edge of known space?

I know that Leia left the New Republic to start the Resistence, but what exactly do they do? Are they a gorilla group that operates in First Order territory?

It just seems like going all the way around the world just to try to re-establish The Empire vs the Rebellion again 30 years later.

Dude is a bad actor, his character sucks, its sad black people can't come up with their own cool original content.

Yeah I should have posted them here instead of creating a new thread that you can choose not to click on if you so wish.

Doesn’t matter where you posted it. It shouldn’t have been started in the first place.

Why?

I read the novelization for Episode II and III before the films even came out (they were released ahead of the film). The amount of secrecy surrounding the sequel trilogy is ridiculous. All we have to go on are some random forum posts that may or may not be true. Speculating endlessly on this sort of thing is part of the fun for some people.

Those who want to go in blind can easily ignore the spoilers out there.

So far so good for me. frick leaks. If I don’t see Luke unleashing hell in a matter that makes Vader in Rogue One blush I’m going to be disappointed though.

I really cannot wait for the day when people stop saying and writing phrases like this. “Snowflake” is played out.
