It bombed. It was gone from theaters in a matter of weeks. It was released first weekend of October.

They had the worst trailers and marketing for a movie I can remember.

I don’t even know what the movie was about.

Every trailer I saw just kept repeating “A remarkable true story starring award winning actors directed by Ridley Scott”.

No mention of the plot. No scenes from the movie. Nothing to make you interested.

They may as well have just said go see this if you like Ridley Scott otherwise don’t bother.

The movie was a rape story told from three different perspectives. This is a movie that I will never ever watch again.

I do not see myself watching it again but I thought it was intriguiing and well made. The true story (what we know of it) is also of high interest to me as I love the era.

Does it show titties? If not, that could explain why it failed. Titties always help.

Yeah any time Ridley Scott is making a period film he's getting my money. Point blank

And it has a 7.7 IMBD? lol

fail at the theaters, sure but was it a fail in filmmaking? For me it was pretty damn good.

Yes, although way more subtle and boring 95% of the time. There’s no point to any of it. The cut out all the actually interesting court room shite to film it 3 very marginally different ways? There’s no point.

The duel was great but most of the rest of the movie is very wandering.

Saw this last night and it was pretty good but I couldnt get over mullet Damon and Affleck. Give me any two British actors because it sounded like Matt and Ben were just using some kind of American accent.

The movie felt so long but it also felt rushed. How many times did we see Damon in a scene that lasts 20 seconds then he skips to another scene thats about a minute long, then another. It tried to pack in too much. Im sure there is a 5 hour long Scott cut that is fantastic and each character gets 1 1/2 hours for their story and there is still only 30 mins left for the Duel, which was one of the best third acts of a movie in 2021.

I'm not a MD fan but he did a great job in this one. His character required the most acting chops because the personality of his character changes the most with the perspective of the account of the character. Let's just say there's a massive difference with how he perceives himself and how he is actually perceived by others.

To me, the movie's disjointed format causes a lot of confusion to the general audience and the ending is somewhat anticlimactic, ironically. I also felt like the story was geared around telling the narrative that life as a woman in that era was hell (which it was). If they had a more typical hero/villain plot the movie would have been more successful.
