From GRRM's blog:

quote:

THE LANDS OF ICE AND FIRE -- also known as "the map book" -- is now DONE AND DELIVERED, and scheduled for publication at year's end.

quote:

THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE. The concordance. Elio and Linda are my partners on this one, a compendium of the history and legends of the world of Westeros. A coffee table book, lots of gorgeous art from such talents as Ted Nasmith, Justin Sweet, and others. Making good progress on this one of late, lots of great historical stuff that I think my readers will enjoy. Never before revealed details of Aegon's Conquest, the War With the Faith, The Dance of the Dragons, the Paramours of Aegon the Unworthy, etc.

I didn't know where to put all this but considering the spoilers already in this thread, I figured this was as good a place as any.

I never finished ADWD when it was released last year. I've been re-reading the whole series again and I'm about 300 pages into ADWD so I'm not up to date on all the current theories but I know the general plot points.

Also from GRRM's blog:

Monkeys remaining on my back? Lots o' them:

THE WINDS OF WINTER. Also known as "Son of Kong." Working on it. Lots to do.

Poul Anderson story. An original short story for the Poul Anderson tribute anthology. Way, way overdue, but I am getting to it.

Dunk & Egg #4, An original novella of Dunk & Egg. Working on it. Hope to have it done by worldcon. It's scheduled to be published in

DANGEROUS WOMEN. A huge crossgenre anthology that Gardner Dozois and I are doing for Tor. Largely complete, except for Dunk & Egg. Well, we're waiting for three rewrites, but my own story will likely be the last one in, then we can move this one to "done and delivered."

LOWBALL. Volume twenty-two in the Wild Cards series. Working on that one with Melinda Snodgrass, my co-editor. Late, but almost done, a few last sections remain to be completed.

OLD MARS. Original anthology for Bantam, coedited with Gardner Dozois. Three-quarters done, a few stories still due in, three or four rewrites in progress. Not due quite yet.

OLD VENUS. The sequel to Old Mars. Well back in the pipeline, not due for a year.

ROGUES. Big crossgenre anthology I am doing with Gardner Dozois. One story already in, several in progress, but there's lots of time on this one too.

Forget all that other shite and focus on WoW, bastard

Me too but considering ADWD was release about a year ago, we've got a lot of want left

He would always refer to Dance with Dragons as Kong on his blog. IIRC, when he finished he just posted a picture of King Kong dead on the ground.

there are some many ways to interpret this.

"Lady" was killed by the father figure of the family.

Now Sansa, the "Lady", has Little Finger as her father figure. Could LF be Sansa's killer?

That's always a possibility if it furthers LF's plans... It would be interesting if Sansa learning the "game of thrones" by Cersi and now LF will somehow turn the tables on LF and LF becomes Sansa's tool instead of his...

Someone earlier mentioned an Arya/ Sansa feud to lead to her possible death but I only see that happening if Arya was ordered to kill Sansa much like her father was ordered to kill Lady... but they are opposites and fought but I don't see Arya killing Sansa...

Grey Wind

It came to me just now, re-running S2 on HBOGO. Robb was undefeated in battle, till his death mid-war. In his short campaign, he was 3-0 vs Tywin and Jaime Lannister, no small feat for a 14 or 15 yr old boy. Robb blew in from the North like a strong grey wind...and just as quickly blew out.

Poetic, sure but fitting I think.

Same old same old with GRRM. Working on other projects, touring, and just sight seeing not writing. It kinda sucks because he will focus on all those other projects and complete them only in time for the NFL season to start where TWOW will take a backseat to the Giants.

Almost sounds awesome, but I don't remember the Starks being all that perfect and honorable except for Ned. Brandon was a playa (plus had a thing for virgins) and Lyanna brIke her word to Robert/ broke up Elia's happy home. The Starks perpetuated this kidnapping crap which was a flat out lie.

Robb marrying for love ain't that unStarkish. Maybe unEddardish.

So I'm re-reading ADwD and I noticed that the name of the boat that was taking Tyrion and Jorah to Dany was named the Selaesori Qhoran. Moqorro said that the name means Fragrant Steward. A fragrant steward could also be another name for a perfumed seneschal.

My crackpot theory is that this is the perfumed seneschal that Quaithe warns Dany about. If you recall, Quaithe says to Dany
quote:

No. Hear me, Daenerys Targaryen. The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare, and after her the others. Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun’s son and the mummer’s dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal."

Could someone that was on the boat be a threat to Dany in the future or has the moment passed due to the sinking of the ship?

I remember seeing that and wondered who she should beware of. Moqorro seems pretty dangerous but the red priests have to love the dragon chick who can walk through fire. She seems right up their alley. Isn't there a mention of a corpse pickled in brine in the hold? Could that be a wight? I think I came up with something else at the time but I can't remember it now.

Didn't Sam have Maester Aemon's body put in a barrel when he arrived at Oldtown to return to Westeros?

I don't remember but I'll reread Sam's arrival in Oldtown this weekend.

If I had to guess, I would say that Moqorro is the most likely but who knows with GRRM.

Aemon's body was put in a cask of wine during the trip to Oldtown. IIRC, he was also burried there.

For some reason I always equated the perceived threat of the "Stinky Steward" to be Tyrion, but also felt that was a bit of mis-direction.

Also, I thought that the body referred to was Aemon, thru some mixup at the port...

Dani's issues toward the end of ADWD also perceived as onset of Pale Mare, blasting the Targ immunity to disease theory
