Out of King of the Hill, The Simpsons, and South Park, which is the greatest cartoon?

The Simpsons? Pretty cool when they came around during my middle school years. There are some funny episodes, for sure, and usually at least one good laugh per episode. That said, I haven't watched this show in years and don't miss it.

South Park? Absolutely hilarious when they're on. When they're not? Painful TV. South Park has definitely made me laugh the hardest out of any of the 3 choices but I just find it terribly inconsistent. I know some of that inconsistency is a function of how they write and create shows but, man, some episodes are just brutal.

King of the Hill? My #1 cartoon of all time. Funny, intelligent, consistent, relatable characters, witty, and operates within the confines of day to day life of an average person.

Simpsons.

Without a successful prime time cartoon the others get relegated to lesser networks.

Using that logic, Mesopotamia is the greatest civilization in world history? Dr. Naismith is the greatest basketball player of all time?

When your ratings and fan base are strong enough that you last for 30 years and over 600 episodes plus a feature length movie you are the GOAT.

South Park is the best out of those.

That has nothing to do with which one is better

Depends on how you look at the word greatest.

Greatest can include influence.

The question was which is the greatest. Didn’t use the word best.

What about Family Guy? It’s still going on strong just like the Simpsons and South Park.

King of the Hill for me, never got into the Simpsons even though I was probably in the target audience when it premiered. I could probably count the number of episodes of South Park I’ve watched on one hand so I don’t know much about it.

King of the Hill was the most consistent. They always stayed in an acceptable range that seldom had me thinking that a particular episode failed to deliver. It was consistently solid.

South Park and The Simpsons are funnier shows but they both whiffed at times.

Yes, I should've used 'favorite'. There's really little argument against The Simpsons being the 'greatest' in terms of influence, cultural impact, longevity, etc.

King of the Hill is better when viewed as a sitcom more than a cartoon..

Probably the Simpsons though the other two are great as well.

The problem with the Simpsons is that its been around forever and even the people making the show are tired of it. So we tend to overlook just how great it was when it first came out.

South Park has also been around for a long time, but the shorter seasons have helped keep Stone and Parker going. Even with that you get the sense that they really wouldn't miss doing the show that much if it got cancelled tomorrow.

Futurama

Only animated show I can watch dozens of times and still laugh at the jokes. Each character is well crafted.

Then we're agreed. The Flintstones is the GOAT.
(With props to the Honeymooners for providing the template.)
