People get put away all the time for handwriting, that's why there are forensic handwriting specialists

Just seems like it would be easy for the defense to bring in specialists to refute the handwriting similarities and focus on the differences.

The fact that he was in California at the same time she was murdered, and has a trail of him traveling south, toward L.A., and the rigomortous (sp?) of the body showed she was laying dead in her home for over 24 hrs. giving plenty of time for him to drive to San Fran and then fly home the day after she was killed

This would make it possiblefor him to have murdered her, but in no way is that close to definitive proof. It's not hard for a millionaire to come up with an alibi for traveling in California.

All of that in addition to the letter and his confession in the doc,

Which seems easy for the defense to have dismissed, imo, based on the way it was obtained and everything else.

was this weeks episode the 5th or 6th one? I'm going to watch it on demand. I watched most of the first 3 or so but missed some of it.

I couldn't help but laugh at that stupid arse juror that thought he was innocent of all three. They were just framing this poor old man.

Watch it ASAP.

Here's my current situation. I'm on episode 8 of season 3 of HOC. That's usually the first thing I watch when I get home. I'm also on episode 2 of season 3 of GOT (first time watching). Now I'm all excited about the Jinx.

Should I put that on the backburner or work it into the daily rotation? I really want to start it immediately though.

Start and finish The Jinx. I didn't leave the couch until it was over yesterday.

The burden of proof is "beyond a resonable doubt." Not ALL doubt. The CSI world we live in has made a lot of people incapable of understanding this...they want video, DNA, ballistics, etc. Seems to me you have motive, lack of alibi, this video recording, the handwriting of the letters and other Durst correspondence, his known southward travel, failure to check voice messages over 4 days which was way out of character. i wonder if they ever checked the ballistics of the bullet against the guns they confiscated from him in 2001 in Pennsylvania. It won't be easy but I think they have a shot of convicting. It will be interesting to see what the defense comes up with regarding his alibi. Gonna be awesome to follow, and Jarecki needs to keep on making episodes with reactions and insights from the same cast of characters.

Wow. Just finished the last two episodes. That was creepy with him talking to himself in the bathroom. This guy is definitely hearing voices or something. No doubt he has killed at least those three people.

Nope. He's stuck in a certain level of technology. Dude still makes collect calls from pay phones just because that's what he does.

I think he still gets off. I agree there is now no doubt he killed all 3, but I think the team of super lawyers he hires will get him off once again on technicalaties.

My favorite reaction last night was when they gave his lawyer the 2 envelopes. You can tell he was bouncing it around in his head but couldn't think of anything to say that would dismiss it. By the time he spoke you could see the worry on his face.

I actually paused the show several times while watching it so I could squeal with anticipation.

My friend I was watching with was all "you only do that for TV shows, right?" yes. fortunately.

I remember Durst saying (I think it was in episode 5) emphatically that whoever wrote that letter to BHPD is the killer. So if experts can prove he wrote the letter, he's fricked by his own admission.

Regardless, I can't wait to watch the trial.

I thought it was also interesting during his bathroom confession when he said "He was right. I was wrong." I took that to mean DeGuerin was right for telling him not to do the interviews and him doing them anyway. The whole moment was fascinating TV...even him replaying his own comments from the interview "I want that." and "The burp."

Yup. None of these things alone is enough. But when you start to add everything up, there is not reasonable doubt in my opinion.
