Just ordered the set 1-8 off Amazon. Love the show. I'm sure the books are better.
Definitely better, imo.

Better man than me. I've got the audible.

I've never done audio books. Guess I should give it a try. Every day I get closer to needing reading glasses......

but the show clearly wants us to feel sympathy for Filip, so he only killed a measly 2 million.
If the show would have killed 15 billion on earth the devastation would have been so bad it would be hard to carry on Earth storylines.
It didn’t have to be 15 billion in the show but 2 million is nothing compared to how massive the earth’s population is and how large scale the attacks initially looked. I’m sure more people will die in the coming months but it likely won’t go up as much as it should.
It should have been somewhere in between. 15 billion is too much and would take Earth’s importance out completely while a few million only would piss the UN off. Something like a few billion wouldn’t be enough to neuter Earth but still enough to significantly lower Earth’s power. Maybe we’re looking to much into it, but it seems they’re going for Earth is scared and angry with a minimal recovery period rather then they’re a significant power occupied with chaos.

That ending though.
Holden is so boring. Other than him, everything about this show is great.

Holden from the very start came off as a slacker, who didn't want responsibility, and shunned the spotlight. Without Miller, he's a bit of a dud. I guess after losing a ghost friend, you'd be bummed too?
So, is Alex (Cas Anvar) gonna be written out off screen? Guess we'll find out next episode.
Dammit.

Its been very slow to watch the Naomi scenes, it feels like nothing is happening. I was also disappointed that there were no Amos/Peaches last episode.
My only question is where is the protomolecule if it wasn't on the Zen?? ship. I guess it's possible the trade Alex & Bobby saw earlier was it.

Thank god the Naomi/Marco/Filip plotline on the Palla is over. Bored me in the books and the show.
That was like a two minute, half a mile suitless spacewalk for Naomi
Agreed. Very slow episode with a great ending.

He's much better in the books. I think they do a better job of capturing what a principled White Knight he is and how his black/white morality becomes increasingly difficult to maintain as situations get more complicated. That's a lot easier to convey in writing in his POV chapters and through seeing him from other poeple's POV chapters than it is in a television series.

I took a class in college on adaptation.
I only realized it after the fact, but the professor had chosen movies that were better than the books, in order to illustrate how the two mediums work differently.
Rear Window for example is a much better as a movie, because you don't know if the hero is right, or not.
I don't know how you resolve Holden's issue of internal conflict. I think a better actor might be able to do more with the material he's given. And show that conflict. But who knows, that's hard.

I thought about that as he was having to jump from the Belter ship back to the Razorback . I half expected Alex getting caught up in the shrapnel from the explosion, and getting snuffed, much like their buddy from the Cant did, when they were all in the holding cell on the Martian ship.
Make it fast, make it quick and just leave no doubt.
Or they could just have him go home, to his wife and kids... yeah, I'm not expecting any happily ever afters for Alex.

I remember thinking Strait was a little too hipster looking in his photos when they announced him for holden. But he's grown on me and have enjoyed his take on holden.
Kind of sucks not getting any Amos and Peaches
Guess we're getting them off the rock next episode.

He's kind of a Jon Snow character. The books focus in on his mannerisms a little more and it makes him more human.

You said it better than me.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but I've been looking forward to this scene.
For some reason I've got the Cowboy Bebop suitless space walk stuck in my mind.

More like a Shaq-pack.
