The English on Amazon Prime
Posted by Sgt Tuffnuts

Through three episodes, it's really solid. Great photography and cinematography on the Western landscapes and also really good storylines so far. Any fans of westerns would probably enjoy the show if nothing more than just for the scenery.
My only gripe is that Eli Webb's accent and delivery is distracting. He's like a cross between Billy Bob Thornton from Sling Blade (always has his bottom lipped tucked while looking away and grunting) and Mel Gibson from The Patriot.
That's probably the only thing preventing me from giving it all 5s on the survey right now.

I tend to agree. Eli Whipp’s accent and delivery is a bit disconcerting. It doesn’t quite fit his character.

i was really interested in this, but my wife isn't much on Westerns.
I think I lost her for good when we watched Wind River and Hostiles back to back.

From the moment I first started watching it I wanted to hate it I kept saying well I'm going to turn it off I'm going to turn it off I'm going to turn it off and next thing I know I'm binge watching it to the very end. Once you kind of get a on the direction they're heading it turns out to be a brilliant little film filled with truths of what is America. The style is Sergio Leone Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino-ish Again I wanted to hate it from the moment I first pressed play and found myself at the end fighting back a tear, due to my Cherokee lineage. All in all, Bravo great film with great characters. Would watch again.

We watched it over 3 nights and thought it was great - really liked the two main characters. The story had a few twists I did not expect which made it more interesting.

Finished today and loved it. Really wish it were a couple episodes longer just to delve more into Rafe Spall’s Melmont character. He was fantastic - gave me vibes of Tom Hardy in Peaky Blinders.

Just finished last episode this morning. First three episodes were a bit of a slog, but last three were very good. I might go as far as to say that the finale was fantastic. Well written and some good supporting characters. The Irish Sherrif was my favorite one. Combines a true western with some great British mystery aspects.

It was not nuanced in its message.
Every white man is a murdering scoundrel, the woman saves the day and the "noble savage" is the righteous beacon of this awful new world.
Storyline doesn't make any sense starting at episode 1.
Except killing and beating. But it's well made, so it has that going for it.

Only about 30 minutes into the first episode, and I gotta say this show is absolutely right up my alley. Consider me completely hooked. Love this kind of show, and the cinematography alone is worth watching, just incredibly well-shot.

You're going to encounter several more Indians who talk like Cowboys. The funny thing is, that is accurate about many Native Americans who were assimilated into Cowboy/US Soldier culture.

My wife and I finished this tonight. Very good show. I really liked how they unveiled the mystery as it went on. I didn’t see a lot of it coming.

Good grief. Did you even watch the movie? There were good whites and bad whites. There were good Indians and bad Indians. There were good women and bad women. You are reaching here.

Just finished episode one and I'm already all in. Man that was a good episode.

Perhaps his accent was influenced by working so much with the white man’s army.

Just finished it. I absolutely loved it. Not a huge cast. Great story and great acting. Very sad and very beautiful in parts. It was very unexpected. Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer (Eli) killed it. I highly recommend it.
