I don't know if any of that is true, nor do I care. This is a weird hill to die on though.
Because kids deserve better. No one talks shite about Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks, and then someone comes up and says "You're too invested in kid's movies". The thing is a good "kid's movie" is a great film for everyone. Up, The Lion King, and How to Train Your Dragon are just great films in general. You don't grow out of truly great films, and I demand that Sony and Illumination start giving a single shite about their animation.
Like this movie only has a $50 million dollar production budget. Do you know how much of a shite production budget for animation these days? Pixar has only made one movie that has around that budget, and it's the original Toy Story. Now they're on average about $185 million with ambitious smart concepts as movies. Dreamworks, while not as good as Pixar, has similar production budgets and time they take making the film. They also cranked it out in a year, which is thoroughly ridiculous for animation. Coco has had a 7 year production that will be released in November. WALL-E had a production of 13 years for god's sake.
Sure Pixar is guilty with the Cars franchise, but they still put some real effort into it. The Emoji Movie is worst concept ever for a movie. I really can't think of a worse concept.

So you gonna see it or what?
I'm really thinking about ripping it off online and doing a rant thread on it. No way in hell am I paying for it, but I do feel like tearing it a new a-hole and actually watching it.
I've read the synopsis and it drove me insane from the terrible concept and blatant plagiarism. I'm convinced Disney could get them in a lawsuit here.

North is one billion times the film this is.
I'm not saying the Emoji Movie is the worst film ever made, I'm saying it's the worst concept ever for a film. I was convinced that Ebert's First Law had to be true, but the Emoji Movie puts that in doubt.

Huge controversy when the 2 males kissing emoji emerges. Why do they have to be so political?!?!

Can it really be any worse than Food Fight?

T.J. Miller's ticket to oblivion.
This may be true.
His HBO standup special is the worst I've ever seen too. I mean, it is awful.
This dude may have peaked.

Is he going to be in Deadpool 2?

And he's so bad that SJWs think he's too extreme for them. He publicly shamed his cast mates for not giving enough money to Hillary Clinton. He assaulted a Trump supporter.
He's probably the single most narcissistic working celebrity I can think of. At least most of the other narcissists have actual talent, when the only role he can play is the a-hole stoner, i.e. himself. So that's not really acting.
Jimmy Kimmel called him out to his face about how he ruined his career repeatably in his interview and Miller's response was have you seen the movie? Kimmel's response should have been "Yes I've seen it, and it was called Wreck-It Ralph".

Miller leaving a great, Emmy-nominated show for a movie about emojis is the most Erlich Bachman move ever.

Oh, it exists. I've seen it. Lord, have mercy on me, I've seen it.

Can his character come back to Silicon Valley though?

I don't think he'd be welcomed back. If anything they should take every chance next season to belittle his character even more.

How is it that my 10-year old daughter can figure out it's a stupid concept for a movie by its title alone, confirmed even more by watching a brief trailer, but it goes over the heads of an entire studio? Ironically, she'd use an eye-roll emoji to convey her thoughts succinctly online...

Is this about the movie or the implosion of Ole Miss? Let's be honest here.

it is pretty simple

Yes, the actual IP of The Emoji Movie has nothing to do with the emojis themselves, and everything to do with the apps that have prime placement in the Google AdWords–grade narrative. Somewhat relevant to the plot is the fact that it all takes place on the phone of a 14-year-old boy, who is having text-based girl troubles somehow worsened by Meh’s poor performance as an emoji. Apparently this 14-year-old boy not only has the usual suspects on his phone (Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify all make appearances), but also, mystifyingly, the Crackle app, and extra-mystifyingly, a Just Dance mobile app that I wasn’t even aware existed before now and currently has a two-star rating on the Apple store.
