John was literally hand picked by the guardians to be a lantern and was trained from a kid to do so his willpower being so strong he doesn't need a ring is literally a great story being told. sorry you don't like art

I just love the arrogant gotcha posts pulling events out of timelines with zero context and just injecting them into John before he’s even a Lantern. Then they say “you just have never read X” when they’ve obviously never read any of it.

And you don’t understand how these things don’t apply here?
First, how do you know something like this doesn't apply. We don't know this John Stewart's backstory at all.
Secondly, it doesn't matter. The comics clearly don't mind giving John Stewart special powers when it suits the story. Why should the TV show be any different?

Nope, if that's what they're going with then it isn't a story about Green Lanterns.

Yeah, those things never happen to John if he wasn't already a Green Lantern. These guys are talking about step 20 while this John isn't even at step 1.

the whole point is to show you there are different things to be taken from different comic runs for the show.

And that’s one of the mistakes a lot of SH shows make recently. Skipping over characters and storylines which messes up continuity.
