re: The Boys Season 2 (Spoilers) Episode 8 “What I Know”

Stormfront is a bad bitch in more ways than one.

Not sure I'm liking the racism push here. I know, per the books Stormfront is a Nazi, but is a dude in the books too.

In the show, I don't think they really established it that solidly. She makes the yellow bastard comment, there is the implication with Liberty's past, and then apparently it's something Starlight has read. Starlight makes the accusation for our benefit, but it isn't really that blatant or obvious just yet...
she says something nasty to, let's face it, a super-terrorist. Some ghetto folks get killed in what easily could be a superhero rage. She's snarky to A-Train, but let's not try to make him sympathetic, he's a dick and he IS washed up.

She's clearly a psycho bitch, but "turning on your own kind"- if they would have went to the Supers vs Normals instead of racism, they really wouldn't have had to change anything at all yet.

The only reason I felt anything for A-Train in that scene was because it was pretty clear to me what she was saying.

In the after show, A Train said he pushed the actress to make it really direct and pretty obvious to get a good reaction out of him. To make him really feel it.

I thought she did a good job on her end. I guess A Train and I have different reactions to feeling racism because I would have reacted a little louder. Given her that...ahhh ok then bitch. I see you.

Are you saying if a cop is chasing a terrorist and randomly shoots civilians in the process, and they're all black, he's just engaged in a "cop rage" and not racist? Ones that are not even in his way?

On another, perhaps more relevant note:

anyone catch that Black Noir is operating at a different level than the rest of the Seven?

They're being "handled" by Ashley. BN, on the other hand, is being directly monitored by Edgar, and is in direct communication with him IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS FIGHT. This is clearly outside of Homelander's knowledge.

Yeah, Black Noir appears to be working in a completely different manner than the rest.

He follows orders 100%, and yet, he does need the actual order from Edgar, so it's not pre-programmed.

The rest all have their own agendas; Homelander wants to take over for himself. Stormfront wants to stir shite up. Starlight wants to take down the lies.
Those 3 are actually all sorta working in the same anti-Vought direction, with different motivations.

Maeve wants to take Homelander down to protect Elena, and is enlisting The Deep to help. This, again, works in line with Starlight's goal, for different (although more similar) reasons.

A-Train is feeling the rejection of being kicked out, and thus kinda falls in line with The Deep's goals. He might be a candidate for the crazy cult, too. Stormfront mentions she was in that cult once. Makes you wonder what the connection is between that church and Vought. Did it also "reconcile" her, to get her back into the game?

Of all the various schemes, Black Noir alone seems focused on the singular mission at hand, and follows orders. For now, at least.

Just finished episode 5:

- Homelander killing that supe-terrorist in like 2 seconds was so damn funny to me. He spent more time mocking him than he did in the actual "fight"

- "They're all starving but it doesn't stop them from having a fricking cell phone!"

- The Deep: "Wait you think I'm a piece of shite?"
Maeve: "Oh frick yeah." Maybe we'll finally get some crossover of that storyline so we can get some kind of payoff with this kind of lame church side plot.

- That sex scene was as hysterical as it was twisted.

- Black Noir peeking over that roof was great. He seems to be a methodical killer that reports directly to the top. I was sweating bullets worrying about the dog.

- I don't think Elena is long for this world.

- Kimiko ripping that dude's face off was one of the most violent things I've ever seen on TV

- Was anybody else wise to the Homelander "day dream" of murdering like 1,000 people at once? I knew there was no turning back on the plot if that was real.

Def my favorite episode of the season.

At first I thought Homelander's destroying of the crowd was a dream but then it kept going. Right as I was at the "holy frick, that wasn't a daydream" moment, they popped back to reality and it was just a daydream.

Stormfront makes a fan-damned-tastic smarmy bitch. Her conversation with A-Train was every bit as golden as her snark toward Starlight in the trailer.

Butcher's use of the word "count" makes me laugh every time. I enjoy it almost as much as Brendan Fraser's "what the frick!" in Doom Patrol.

Starr's portrayal of Homelander never disappoints. Watching him trying to keep it together and then that insane sex scene with Stormfront... damn.
