If it wasn’t in the Star Wars universe then I would agree. But a cowboy hat, long coat, and a bullet bandolier? Come on man. Visually, yes that scene was badass. And it’s apparent I need to watch Clone Wars, tried a few episodes and got busy I guess.

He wears that in the Clone Wars as well.

Cad Bane and Hando Ohnako are probably the best occasional side characters in Clone Wars/Rebels/Bad Batch.

It’s amazing how much more Mando and Book of Boba Fett makes sense if you’ve seen those three animated shows.

Sure, the SW Universe has primarily been built on transforming familiar people/places/things of our world and giving them an other-worldy make-over: ex. Swords become lightsabers, cars/motorbikes become wheel-less floating speeders, Nazis become Empire/stormtroopers, horses become tauntauns, desert/icy/watery regions become whole planets, white milk becomes blue or greeen, etc.

However, though less frequent, the SW Universe has been pointedly "on the nose" before: ex. Darth Vader using a metal needle to interrogate/drug the Princess for info, the 50s diner scene (Dex's Diner), the Mods based on the UK Mods, etc. So Bane looking like Clint Eastwood is not unprecedented.

Then you shouldn't take that stance. This is more Star Wars than any of those crap sequels. Clone Wars and Rebels blow them away and really provide context for whats going on in this series.

Grogu is the star of the Mandalorian show. It's not the book of din jarin.

I would vehemently disagree with this. It’s absolutely supposed to be Din’s show

Do you think Grogu takes the saber?

Like everyone has already said, what an awesome episode with all of the fan service that I could've possibly hoped for. I figured there was a chance that we'd get Luke & Grogu, but I was definitely not expecting to see Asoka. Seeing Asoka tell Luke he is like his father was so good to hear because outside of Obi-Wan she is the only one that knew Anakin before he turned to the dark side. So you know that would've meant everything to Luke to hear that from her.

When I saw that silhouette of Cad Bane, I was like "holy crap they are really about to do this". Then my next thought was "Oh crap, they're about to kill off Raylan Givens aren't they" (although I think they just injured him). But seeing Cad Bane in live action was soooo worth it. And for those that are asking about Cad Bane, he mentored Boba so they know each other very well. They were supposed to duel it out, and Bane put that dent in Boba's helmet (although I don't know how well that actually holds up now with how they've built up beskar), but they canceled Clone Wars before Filoni could do it. But needless to say, Cad Bane may be the baddest bounty hunter in Star Wars cannon.

I was kind of hoping that Grogu would stay with Luke because that would basically start the writing out of the sequels with Ben being his first student. But I'm betting Grogu picks Din Djarin now, so my hope for them writing the sequels out of cannon seems like wishful thinking. Oh well, but what Favreau and Filoni have done with the Star Wars universe has almost completely made up for the damage that Kennedy did with her sequels. Now they just need to come out and officially announce that the sequels are no longer cannon and I'll completely forgive Disney for what they did to the universe in the last Kennedy trilogy.

I'm leaning Grogu takes the armor initially, and he is returned to Mando, but eventually will get Yoda's saber.

I mean, what is Luke gonna do with a 2 foot lightsaber?

It would make Luke look bad if his first student rejects him. I still think Grogu goes team Mando...

Not really.
I think he wants him to pick the armor, b/c he knows his "heart isn't in it" and he wants to go back to Mando. You can't be a Jedi with that kind of attachment, and Luke knows he's not going to break that attachment.

Which is confusing to me that this has become a thing.

Yes, Anakin fell from grace because of family attachment issues, but Luke's whole story was littered with family attachments which were key in Darth's redemption, running to save Han/Leia on Bespin, losing his father-figure Obi-wan, training his sister & nephew, etc.

Luke's life and upbringing, on top of how the galaxy and jedi were at that time, was unlike any other jedi, so it's a bit unfair to compare that.
He's trying to start something new, and train new jedis in his temple, and he's going to do it the traditional way it has always been done.

I thought this at the time because you didn't see him, he may have survived by it being his night off and his jizz will live on.

I didn’t really get the idea that he’s the big bad, but rather the muscle to the big bad, similar to how Mando and the Wookie are being touted as Boba’s muscle.

I realized after I left for work he technically wouldn't be the big bad just paid muscle which opens up Qi'ra to be behind it.

Lol solid point. Possibly to cut up his steaks?

I’ve been under the impression that Grogu will end up using that metal ball he loved so much from the Razorcrest as a weapon. Maybe force throw it through people. He may not even need a lightsaber to protect himself? Although that may go against the Jedi ways.

The possibilities for this show are endless. I guess that is what you get with top notch storytelling.

I can't remember if it was ever actually stated in the sequel trilogy (I've tried my best to forget those movies), but it was probably stated in the comics. Either way, it is definitely cannon that outside of Leia's initial training, Ben was Luke's first real student.

That was incredible. I am hoping we get stories and shows all the way up until the events of the sequels and makes those movies look better, like what the Clone Wars cartoon did for the prequels.

I don't see why everyone is assuming that Grogu is going to pick Mando, he has already left Mando and made the decision once.

To think people were writing this show off after the first few episodes. What a bunch of idiots. Next week is gonna bang.

In my euphoria this morning I almost bumped a couple of the hot takes BUT those of us that believed were going primarily on faith in F&F and not just reacting to the actual content of the first couple of episodes. It was good and filled with Easter eggs and callbacks but I doubt it was really what most of us were expecting. By this point anyone not having faith that F&F are going to deliver can definitely be put in the dumb category IMO, or more fairly they just don't like Star Wars.

Unfortunately, this will be the case. And I think it has everything to do with fans and the Mouse wanting Grogu to be back in the show for marketing purposes, which is a shame. They hardly spent any time apart. It absolutely cheapens what they went through together and regresses the show and their characters' respective arcs. It makes the entirety of Chapter 2 pointless outside of Din getting the darksaber. And that will be for nothing. He's not going to want anything to do with ruling Mandalore or the price it will take to wield the darksaber. He will give that shite up asap with his little buddy back

Because it's kind of obvious, which I'm hoping they'll play off of since everyone thinks that and make the smart decision and have him actually stick with Luke, whether that be Grogu or Mando's decision.

But if they do go that route, I wonder why they even brought Grogu back so quickly in the first place if it wasn't for them to reunite and team back up. Was it just for added closure for both of them and for fans?

That's a pretty pessimistic take man. No reason to think Favreau and Filoni are gonna screw this up.
