The Bombardment on Netflix may be one of the most depressing and sad movies I’ve ever seen

It’s about a WWII air raid in Copenhagen where the British accidentally bomb a school full of children.

Jesus Christ, it is sad as frick.

86 children were killed.

Nothing like a little lighthearted TV before bed.

Jesus…

It reminds me of when I was watching Demolition Man. I did a fist pump when Wesley Snipe's character said he killed everyone before the explosion because that meant Stallone was innocent... and then I remembered is was a bus full of kids and felt bad.

Spoilers

Towards the end, one of the girls was trapped in the rubble as water was rising to her. We get to witness her last moments as she eventually drowns (off camera). The people who were trying to save her die when the rubble collapses on them.

frick.

We get shite like this greenlit all the time, yet there hasn't been a decent original comedy or teen movie made in a decade.

I’ll bookmark that for a time when I feel up to watching a very depressing and sad movie.

Good teen movie would be today. It’s too depressing to even consider. I’m afraid the days of lightheaded, irreverent teen movies are gone forever.
In fact, frick it don’t even try. I’d rather just rewatch the old ones.

(I think this one is 15 years old this year, so it is "old", right?)

all those old teen movies today are all not woke so Hollywood would not touch them. frick I do not see woke everywhere but in movies it is out of hand.

I was actually thinking John Hugh’s movies, but Superbad is on the list too. Along with American Pie type films.

None of those would be acceptable today cause of “muh date rape”. And no figs or trannys being promoted.

Cue OML telling you you're wrong and why it should be Grave of the Fireflies.

It was actually a very good film-award level film-with the Vikings actor as a bonus- but easily the most relentlessly depressing thing you will see all decade.

Alllow me a personal anecdote. When I lived in Japan I had a friend. He was 20-25 year older than me and owned the best restaurants in the village. He was super kind and loved to practice his English with me. One day we took a ferry to a tiny island called Hoto Jima ( Oita prefecture) and he casually mentioned that this was where his older sister was killed ( before his birth) when the Americans bombed the school. Apparently it was a deep water submarine base. He wasn’t bitter or blaming anybody, he just casually mentioned it, explained it, and then we spent the day fishing. Such is the inhumanity of war.

If Euphoria is Hollywood’s impression of teenagers today I’ll be happy we had what we had in the 90s/00s.

Theyd make a bastardized version that would have to follow the ironclad rules of wokeness.

-Cast must be at least ~25-50% POC
-White male character can not be the wittiest, funniest, or most admirable character
-Female POC can not have major flaws
-Must have one interracial couple
-Must have one LGBTEIEIO+#!? relationship
-No jokes at the expense of any left wing agenda

Good luck making a good movie with those parameters.
