I disagree. He knew when they told him Anthony couldn't go fishing that day.

Guess it all depends on how stupid you think Fredo is.

I think the first two movies show him to be fully aware of the workings of the mafia, just supremely bad at navigating them.

I always thought he knew.

The scene in Event Horizon where the dude finds the bomb inside the ship, only to see on the counter that there are only a couple of seconds left before it detonates. That scene bothered me a lot the first time I saw it.

I think he knew when junior was called in.

He definitely had more of an idea than your awful example of Tommy getting capped when he thought he was being made

I think Tommy knew just a split second before when he saw the rugs laid out in an empty room but it's not as obvious as others in this thread.

Tommy’s last words were “Oh no”. He realized at the last second he was getting killed. He knew what was up even if it was the last second. Fredo is a fricking idiot so I don’t think he realized it.

When the Don wants you dead there's nowhere you can hide. Might as well not bother trying to run.

Agree. It's a perfect example - he even had time to say "Aw fu" before the bullet went through his head.

But best is probably Dr. Strangelove. Along with Dennis Hopper.

For those previously mentioned.

Why else would he be reciting The Hail Mary prayer?

He absolutely knew.

Also, Michael said he didn't want anything to happen to Fredo.

While his mother was alive.

He explained why. It helped him catch fish.
