The Best Action Movies

Inspired by the Terminator thread.
1) Die Hard. Hard to go with anything else.
2)T2. Cutting edge special effects. I challenge you to find a movie that has held up over time as well.
3)Die Hard 3. Not a popular choice but I like it. SLJ and Bruce Willis getting beat up even more makes this one number 3.
4) Blackhawk Down. The action literally never stops. Bonus points for the fact this actually happened.
5) Lethal Weapon 2.

For pure action, 300 is up there.
Also, Heat. Even though the bulk of the action takes place in one sequence, the build-up to it and the scene itself is so over-the-top and badass that I feel the need to include it here.

Add The Rock and you got yourself a list.

Isn't the plot of Taken an action movie itself?

Yes, heck any movie with action is an action movie. Superhero movies are an offshoot of action movies.
Twister is an action movie.
Jurassic Park is an action movie.
Now, Land of the Lost? That's an action-adventure movie. Indiana Jones? Action-adventure.

I'd also like to add The Kingdom. The last 30 minutes or so of that movie are simply nonstop awesomeness.

Action means pure adrenalin movies for me.
1. Terminator 2 - no denying it. It's not as perfect as the first but it's basically non-stop action after the first 10 minutes.
2. First Blood
3. Die Hard
4. Speed
5. Aliens
(There's John Woo films but feels like another thread.)

Die Hard - Hans Gruber alone is a reason for this to be one on the list.
Hard Boiled - Action Porn. Plain and Simple.
Police Story - Jackie Chan at his best.
Lethal Weapon - Gary Busey. Nuff said.
Lethal Weapon 2 - Diplomatic immunity!
Cliffhanger - Anyone who thinks this isn't a great action film is just lying to themselves.
Con Air - Guilty pleasure. And not ashamed to admit it.
License to Kill - My favorite Bond film. Robert Davi and benicio Del Toro as the villains.
Cobra - Crime is the Disease. He's the Cure.
Rambo - All of them. Even three.
Rocky 4 - The only pure action film in the series.
The Running Man - so cheesy it's fricking awesome.
Die Hard (the rest) - let's go ahead and include all of these. John McClane is the greatest american action hero.

Rocky 4 wasn't movie. It was a message that ended the Cold War.
