The BBC learned an important lesson from Doctor Who

Hold up; no, they did not.
After pile-driving the show into cancellation with bad writing and general phaggotry, they're trying to shop it around to external studios. But wait, they have a list of demands:

racial quota representation is what hollywood has been doing. that's why you see so much forced diversity in tv/movies in every show now.

This is why every Hollywood movie these days costs hundreds of millions of dollars to produce. They have to hire 3 times the number of people to do the job because 2/3 of them are quota hires that contribute nothing.

The BBC is in a position to demand nothing. Networks, on the other hand, are in a position to GRANT nothing.

The tendering process means it is not canceled.
The show is in hiatus, as it has gone through before. It has been canceled before. Twice. It was canceled in 1989, and then the plans to move the 1996 revival to series were canceled after the TV movie failed. The idea of Doctor Who as some beacon of tv stability and success is a fiction. It has a long history of barely surviving and fighting budget cuts
They tried to go back to the well with RTD, and it didn't work to bring in new fans. Most importantly, they tried to bring in money with Disney without considering how disney would keep them on a restrictive leash without making the show any kind of marketing priority.
After a bad run and then a disappointing run, letting the show reset and shopping new creatives is probably the right idea.

It was cancelled. Low ratings and the head of the BBC at the time hated it. Or I should say the heads of the BBC clashed often with the showrunner John Nathan Turner.
It was officially rested but that was the polite way of saying it isn't on the schedule and it won't be on the schedule in the future. Thus cancelled. They didn't want fan backlash like they had with the previous resting.
They kept chopping the budget for higher rated series and it showed. I wasn't super sad when it was cancelled because the show was too expensive for WYES and they had removed it from the regular schedule.
This time I clap with glee for the end of the show. They destroyed the legacy with all of their woke antics which seemed to get worse and worse each year going as far as retconning the original doctor. I hope the writers and anyone involved never work again. I actually wish ill will on them. Arrogant fricks who disrespected 60 years of history to push their politics.
