I liked the Detective angle, but felt it didn't really pay off.

So finally got around to watching it at home and I finally figured out what was bothering me about the detective angle. Lead up to the movie I kept hearing about how much this was the first Batman movie to focus on the detective angle. Which is one of my favorite parts of the Batman mythos.

Here is the problem. Between the first Batman trailer and the release Reacher came out on prime. Where they essentially took a huge well trained superhero character and gave him a genius detective brain and man it was so well done. Then I watch the Batman. I can't help but think man Reacher took what you were trying to do and did it so much better. Honestly had I never watched Reacher I probably would have liked this better. Because they did focus on the Detective angle more they just didn't do a great job at it.

Trash movie.

Way too long and tried way to hard to be moody and emo.

Too much red cinematography passed off as artistic.

Struggling through it the past couple of days. At least so far I think the length, the moody/emo stuff (Bruce is closer to what I would picture Damian Wayne from Batman/TT movies being as a young adult after being around Raven too long and without his grandfather & his father), and the cinematography has made it hard to stay focused enough to get to a point where I want to see what happens next.

It took me three sessions to actually watch this movie.... And I wanted to slit my fricking wrists every time.

Damn, what a depressing piece of shite movie with so many predictable (evil whitey) moments.

Perhaps I am off base, and this film would have been better had I not been comparing it the entire time in my subconscious to previous Batman projects... But that's what makes anyone who takes on the character so difficult now. The 1989 version and the Nolan films attacked the genre from each end of the spectrum and they were so damn good, they can't really ever be topped.

Pattinson also is not nearly as good as Keaton or Bale as either Bruce Wayne or Batman. The costume also really hurt this film. The mask, In particularly, really exposed too much of his face, and the Bruce Wayne protrayal was just pitifully bizarre and lacking.

Overall, I felt this film had far more in common with Watchmen and all of its flaws (although I have grown to kind of like that movie) than any other modern feature Batman film.

This is the 2nd best Batman movie behind TDK.

Maybe you should have….

If it takes you that many tries to finish a movie, just give up.

the evil whitey stuff seemed like it was just there to abuse the audience. you could remove every mention of 'white' from the movie and change nothing.

The movie was meant to be watched in a theater. It’s much better when the sound and screen immerses you

I absolutely loved the movie, but I don’t see the point or purpose in getting so bent out of shape about people who didn’t.

Everyone is different, and if OP didn’t like it, who am I to give a frick?

Not liking it is one thing. It’s another in here stating it either took you X amount of times to watch it, almost killed yourself watching it, letting one line of dialog ruin the entire movie for you, etc.

Just quit coming in here with your over exaggerated excuse for not liking it. It’s like the next person that comes in here tries to outdo the previous person. They’re just trolls at this point.

This is probably not the best place to discuss this movie for you. This board is not the majority opinion. This movie was well received. Even better received than I think it deserved to be.

It will be ok. There will be a sequel. You win. Ok?

It’s not. And it’s really not close. This was the best received Batman iteration since TDK. My kids grew up with Ben Affleck as Batman and thought he was a joke until this movie. They like TDK Trilogy, but this they’re excited for because they get to see them in theaters. This is their Batman. It was very successful.

I actually enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Highly entertaining and I enjoyed the super dark feel to it.

As for the anti-white moments. I mean, at this point, I expect to hear something along these lines in most movies today.

There were only a couple "woke" moments. But even when Selina said something along the lines of all the rich white guys, she ends up falling for a rich white guy lol. So whatever.

Overall, i really dug the movie.

Just cause you're woke don't mean you're gonna date broke.
