Anyone else really like this one? Probably in my top 5 westerns. (If you count it as a western)
Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck were great but the whole cast was pretty darn good too.
I really enjoyed the how they removed the legend and romance from Jesse James and showed him for a real life person. I don’t know much about Jesse James life, but this portrayal feels accurate. Robert Ford played as the young whipping boy, who wants to be adventurous and famous but is to embarrassed of himself to get words out of his mouth. I think film critics tend to hate narration but it fits well for me too.

Liked it to a degree. Very Malickesque.

Could have at least 30 minutes cut, though.

It’s a great movie with great shots but it’s a slow burn.

It’s a shame they couldn’t have made the title longer.

That’s why I always just call it TAOJJBTCRF. It’s pronounced just like it’s spelled.

Another in a long line of Deakins' masterpieces. One of my favorite westerns.

It is a bit long, but I like long movies as long as they’re good.

as others have said, movie is a bit long, but it's really good, and the cast is great.
If you haven't seen it, you should.

I thought it was a great story but like others have said it was a little long and boring for stretches'.

Gorgeous film. The plot is fine and the acting is good but the cinematography is what I love most about it

I liked it. Maybe not top 5, but very good. I loved the opening scene about the Indian women. People who don't like it seem to think we need action gun fights in every movie during this period. However this is more about this specific story vs an actual western or period piece.

Great movie, I remember watching it randomly on HBO one weekend while I was home alone. Seeing "Jesse James" in the title I automatically assumed a Tombstone type western. The film is much deeper than that and barely touches on his train robberies.

Definitely a slow burn, but a great rainy day movie.

ETA: Casey Affleck is cast perfectly as Bob Ford. He plays the mousey bitch-boy role to a T in just about all his movies
