If you don't kill Liz in the first 5 sec, you're dead

Some close calls/dangerous, sloppy missions for Elizabeth the first 2 episodes. Finally getting to her like Phillip said?

Yep.
Considering how razor sharp she's been this whole series, it would be an interesting end if she got herself caught/killed by some basic, mundane frickup brought on by fatigue or overextension. Sort of a parallel to what was going on in the USSR at the same time.

That or having Paige involved will be what does her in.
Help me out - have we seen that general before? He was alluding to a prior meeting and someone getting killed.

Season 1 apparently. Reading the AV club reviews after episodes has been super helpful

Just finished watching the first two episodes. Each episode has a Louisiana reference. Line dancing to Louisiana Saturday night. A high level meeting at Lake Bistineau. Wtf. Its not like Bistineau is a well known resort lake.
What's the Louisiana connection to the show?

Elizabeth is 3 for 3 this season. I worried she was going to make the episode without doing that.

Kind of blah episode except Oleg and Stan which was great then Oleg and Phillip tease for next week ! Meanwhile Liz is a serial killer

Poor guy if only he wouldn't have mentioned his girlfriend he probably would've made it out alive.

I have been a huge fan of this show since Day 1. I still think the pilot is the best pilot ever made and have loved watching the show progress over 6 seasons.
However, when Liz killed the mid-level employee over having a girlfriend who worked in security, I rolled my eyes and then cringed. This is getting ridiculous. Any espionage officer who is this trigger happy would be fired for ridiculously sloppy work and having no discipline whatsoever. Elizabeth has gone from being ruthless to killing everyone who has a modicum of harmless information. It's absurd.

She is definitely unraveling. There was no reason to kill the guy last night or the navy guy week 1, that was incredibly risky out in the open like that

It's really interesting to watch. She's a true believer, and with Gorbachev in power, she's become concerned at some level that her whole life has been for naught, and that includes what she's doing to Paige. It's causing her to act out as if she can save the USSR all by herself, and she's taking a lot of her own recklessness out on Paige.
Speaking of Paige, does anyone share doubt with Pastor Tim that her parents are monsters? I sure don't. They're not just monstrous. They're evil. At least Philip realizes it.

Damn...
What a great episode.
You can tell Elizabeth is really in edge, barely keeping it together. Almost spilled the beans to Philip.
Stan through the ringer. Power move by him and Aderholt. Never would have thought about the kid. Nice detail. Interesting nugget about the general.
I suspect that Stan is going to learn about Philip before the end if the season through Oleg.
I am intrigued by the secondary arc about the issues with the travel agency. Philip truly becoming an American with the seat of the pants finances.
Can't believe only 7 episodes left.

I wish we could see Elizabeth’s reaction to the fall of the Soviet Union.
