And it was a 3 second shot but the one of Oleg holding his son before he left knowing at best he wouldn't see him for a long time hit me in the feels

I don’t think it’s the last name but more like the middle name where they use the fathers first name as son or daughter of.... Like the former Rezidentura calls Oleg, Oleg Igorovich (son of Igor) not Burov and Oleg calls him Arkady Ivanovich etc

The technical term is "patronymic name," and it's commonly used when addressing people.
