'The Alto Knights' Official Trailer #1 | Mob Drama Starring Robert De Niro

Scripted by Oscar nominee Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas), The Alto Knights tells the story of Vito Genovese (De Niro) and Frank Costello (De Niro), a pair of Italian Americans running two separate crime families during the mid-20th century. Genovese tried and failed to assassinate Costello in 1957, with the latter taking his leave from the mob after being injured during the attempt on his life.
The project reunites De Niro with Levinson following collaborations on the Emmy-nominated HBO TV movie The Wizard of Lies, which had De Niro playing Bernie Madoff, and Magnolia Pictures’ 2008 dramedy, What Just Happened, as well as the famed director’s earlier films Wag the Dog and Sleepers. It’s had a long road to screens, stuck in development hell for a number of decades, before Warner Bros. Pictures revived the project in the summer of 2022.

As much as I love Levinson, Pileggi, and Charmaine Bucco's tits, I don't see how this can work. We'll watch it on Max, but don't have high hopes.

Years ago this would have been a can't miss movie. I'm not so sure now, but it looks good. Pileggi wrote the books and screenplays for Goodfellas and Casino and that is damn impressive.

Even if Deniro hadn't shite on half the country for almost a decade, he's basically in Travolta-land now. Nothing is genuine or interesting on screen anymore and he has zero charisma or charm and he's a complete charactature of himself.
Nothing about that trailer made me want to buy a ticket to that film.but also having Double-role Deniro is just a death knell for the project.

I read about this last week and thought having De Niro play both roles was an odd choice. Now that seen the trailer it's still a weird choice. But the trailer was pretty good so I'll definitely see it at some point.

Robert De Niro clearly talking to himself. Looks exactly like him, sounds exactly like him. Pretty stupid gimmick, maybe he’ll even say “you talkin to me?”

You would think the guy would be tired or bored with playing gangsters but, no, he's going to play two in one movie.
