Hot take:
Madking and Sammytiger are the same person. They just don’t know it yet. Like in that movie about the guy that joins a fighting club.

The bigger question is who gets to bang Helena Bonham Carter.

At her age he does, he’s the one with mommy issues.

On Star Wars, my views more align with yours.
On sex with Marla Singer, we are diametrically opposed.

Oh Marla Singer is a different story. I thought you meant 58 year old Helena Bonham Carter.

I think much of sol’s actions can be explained as him being influenced by the vergence.
Vergences in the force - like the cave in dagobah, or the mirror cave in ahch often present trials to the force user.
In case of dagobah - the vergence gave Luke a trial of fear: it forced Luke to come to terms with his greatest fear.
In case of ahch-to, the vergence tested Rey in a way that challenged her identity. She was never going to meet her parents again (trial of attachment), and she had to reconcile with that fact.
I think sol was faced with a similar trial imo, he was wracked with concerns about not getting a padawan, and hence his attachment to osha got amplified and clouded his judgement.

I dont think we can let him off that easy.
I think he allowed his own want for some kind of family to over exaggerate his concern for the girls.

quote:Guiness and Ford were the only decent starring actors.
1. You can be critical Hamill, but Hayden was not any better. I like McGregor as Obi-wan, but Ford was absolutely iconic as Han Solo. And I love Natalie Portman, but this wasn’t her best movie and Carrie Fisher again was great as Princess Leia. There are great supporting actors here and there in the ANH but that’s the main cast and most of the action.
Fisher sucked until RotJ (and she was great in Return), every line was forced and it showed, Hamill was great in Empire, sucked in ANH, and was passably decent in Return.
In RotS, you had Jackson, McGregor, Portman, Lee, and a better Christiansen.

ANH has better space ship battles
Sith even had a better cast of villains, Dooku, Palps, Grievous, Anakin
As opposed to Vader and Tarkin

It was supposed to be a kid’s movie for 12-year-olds that were going through puberty, who don’t know what they’re doing, and are asking all the big questions: What should I be worried about? What’s important in life? And Star Wars has all those things in there. They’re buried in there but you definitely get it, especially if you’re young. - George Lucas
This is the virtue signaling defense of yesteryear. "Of course you don't like it, it's for kids!" This argument is solely made as a defense for bad storytelling.
And you completely fell for it.
