Per Google:
quote:
The 80s: A Motion Picture Special is a crowdsourced, feature-length "docu-musical" created by filmmaker HR Pao that uses a fast-paced video and audio collage of 1980s movies, TV shows, and pop music to tell the story of the decade

I assume this will be a feature length version of this popular video

Will def watch... 80/90s is arguably the greatest two decades in this countries history, due to the simplicity of life and the lack of toxicity, especially in politics.

I'll check it out. The '80s were amazing. It really is kind of a "you had to be there" moment in time. Most of the movies now that try to cash in on '80s nostalgia feel inauthentic to me. Movies made from '80s tv shows are usually garbage.

Cease and desist incoming from the Prince estate. I smell a Kickstarter scam, they will never be able to afford a bunch of music rights.

The longer I live, the more I realize I lived through the one of the greatest decades. I went through high school and college in the 80's.

No doubt. I graduated high school in 1981 and the 80s was a great time to be a young adult. Like a poster above said, politics wasn't nearly as toxic and it hadn't permeated into so many facets of society back then. Those were definitely fine times

Graduated HS in '82. Great time to be a kid and young adult. Didn't hurt that my HS was chock full of good looking girls.

They have accepted about $82,000 from 605 people in donations. I wouldn't call that much of a scam.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this.

quote:$82,000 is not enough for one song. Unless they secure the rights for every song and movie clip they use, no streamer will touch this. The guy making this documentary knows this, therefore I think his Kickstarter is a scam. I'm not even sure the rights holders would let him stream on YouTube for free.

They can't use something like the Fair Use exemption? I think that's how all the youtube reactors get around a lot of copyright laws.

Because of AIDS, corporate greed and political parties realizing that they hate each other, the 80s will always take a back seat to the 70s.

I've thought for a long while that we peaked somewhere between 1985 and 1995. I sure miss those times.

The 80s and early 90s for sure. The toxicity started taking root in the Clinton years. Still nowhere near where it is now.

This is just some harvested 80s footage w a great Prince song playing over the top.
And right on cue, all the old farts in this thread start rhapsodizing about how much happier they were in high school.
Pathetic display.
Hopefully Gen Z has more chest than these sad, fading clowns.

Should we come in here and celebrate the post 2000 decades of frickery? You sound like a jealous a-hole.

The generation that doesn't even know what a woman is?
