So a hipster wrote this article. That explains a whole lot

Wasnt entourage on Showtime?
I love Flight of the Conchords very much, but with only 2 seasons and a very niche audience, I think they rated it too high.

Go ahead and make fun of me, but Sex and The City is top 10. It doesn't get the love because it is made for females. Having watched 90% of it while trying to seduce my now wife, I really thought it was a great show (the movies sucked balls.).
I will not make fun of you, because I agree. The show eventually became a parody of itself, but those first few seasons were very enjoyable. It was almost a different show.

Nope, HBO all the way

I rated it highly since I haven't watched a lot of the dramatic series on HBO like Deadwood. I'm more of a comedy guy. I can appreciate Flight of the Conchords because they quit while they were on top instead of slowly going downhill like Kenny Powers.

I saw Boardwalk Empire 20th behind Oz, Sex and the City, and Girls and I was immediately done with this list.

True Detective is overrated IMO. On that list, and on this board. It's not bad, but it's not as good as it's cracked up to be. It's a season-long CSI case with decent acting, a better script, and more adult content.

There are so many of these that I've just never watched. Curb is one of my favorite shows of all time. I really liked Bored to Death and Flight of the Concords as well. I guess I'm more of a comedy person. I really liked the first season of Silicon Valley. Haven't started the second season yet (just decided to get cable again this week).
I watched True Detective, GoT, but they just aren't shows I really ever want to watch twice or anything.
I personally never got the love for The Sopranos and Entourage. I'll watch them, but it's not something that I put down on my calendar to tune into.
Currently watching The Wire and on season 3. Another one that I like, but I don't think I'll consider an all time favorite or anything.

Nope. The Sopranos is #1. An argument can be made for #2 (behind The Wire), but it should not be lower than that.

In my opinion, Rome being missing from the top 20 immediately invalidates this list.
It's made worse by dropping Band of Brothers.

I'm more of a comedy guy and mob stuff isn't my forte. I liked Boardwalk Empire, though, because of Steve Buschemi.

How does Entourage not make the top 20 HBO series of all time?
I agree with the top 3, but after that they really fricked up this list.

I'd switch Sopranos and the Wire, Curb and Six Feet Under, and Boardwalk and Girls.

Because that show fricking sucks

Well that can't be the reason. Girls is on the list.

Entourage isn't the greatest but it is top 20 for sure. There are other crappy shows on this list. I would also move E&D and Silicon Valley up.

Girls ahead of Boardwalk Empire?

Band of Brothers and The Pacific were Mini Series, not actual Series. From the Earth to the Moon would be on that list as well as great shows but not Series.
My list:
1. Game of Thrones (this season is the weakest but still the overall acting, scope, story, and innovation of the show just stands alone)
2. Sopranos (This series made HBO Sunday Night. It lost a lot of momentum in the later seasons and had the strange ending that cost it the top spot)
3. True Detective (Amazing show. Great story, great acting, great technical television. Only thing holding it back is it has only had 1 Season)
4. The Wire (Can respect its greatness but this show just never did it for me)
5. Rome (First season was absolutely epic. Had the 2nd season not been rushed it could have been higher)
6. Carnivale (incredibly original and haunting show, can't think of anything like it)
7. Six Feet Under (Solid and original with a great blend of darkness and optimism, just felt very real. Scores extra points for maintaining quality over a long run and probably the best finale of all time)
8. Sex and the City (certainly a "lighter" show but its hard to ignore what a cultural icon this was for women at the time)
9. Boardwalk Empire (First 2 seasons were amazing. Kind of lost its way and ended decent.)
10. Deadwood (Wasn't a huge Deadwood fan at the time but it was original, dark, and cool)
11. Curb Your Enthusiasm (Great show but was a little too "one note" for me of uncomfortable humor)
12. Dream On (This was really the first HBO show and had some flaws but scores a lot of points as a groundbreaker).
13. Entourage (Had the potential to be the male version of "Sex and the City" but damn this one faded in the later seasons)
14. Oz (Solid show with great acting but got pretty unrealistic at times and after about 3 seasons I just stopped caring)
15. Eastbound and Down (Funny but light and honestly would have been best as a movie)
After that there are lots of good but not great shows and a few that have the potential to rise into the Top 15 depending on how they develop.
