Bale was responsible for the script being completely changed. Several sites have reported that the first script was actually quite good but Bale convince McG to change it all

Hmm. Hadn't heard that before.
I knew that was the set he blew up on that dude on and they got the audio on tape.

I liked it. Thought it had good action, a gritty feel and look. Quality SFX. I like Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. Story had some flaws, but I guess I'm not tied to the Terminator mythology enough to have them take me out of it. I didn't expect a masterpiece, just expected a movie I could stuff my face with popcorn to. I think this movie gets a disproportionate amount of hate on here.

Its an absolute disgrace to the first 2. Aside from one moment (which I won't spoil) literally every good or decent moment in the film is spoiled in the trailer. The greatness of the trailer ruined this film for me.

He did, but I asked him to; it was an honor. The freaking BAT MAN nailed my wife. However, I had him do it in Patrick Batmen mode. I love the guy, as an actor.

Because he completely changed it? His character was a minor role, which was unacceptable. So, he had the storyline completely changed. His acting wasn't the problem. Although, if I must say so, his acting wasn't anything special in this movie.

I thought it was good, but it was worse than I was expecting it to be.

So basically I liked it, but was disappointed.

Of course T3 had action, it also used every shade on the color wheel which was an artistic choice I didn't like very much in a Terminator movie.
And for the Bale thing, T4 was supposed to start a 3 movie arc with John Connor having a minor role in this one that builds to a grand finale but it got changed.

Contrary to my comments in this thread, I don't hate this movie... rather, I liked it for what it was, which is a sci-fi movie set in the future about killer machines. However, this movie could have been so much more. In the Terminator universe, this movie makes no sense, unless it is an alternate reality that resulted from a change to the timeline that we the viewer are not aware of.

I need to read the synopsis again to remember why I thought this plot did not make sense in the terminator world, as I have completely forgot this run of the mill sci-fi movie.

This movie was entertaining obviously but I find it hard for any sequel to the first 2 to live up to those. T2 is possibly one of the best sequels and we were probably all expecting a little too much from this movie. It would have been great if James Cameron had come back to direct it or something because Terminator post judgment day is a great concept for a movie(s). I thought I had heard they were going to be filming more, any truth to that?

Considering that it was not as successful as its predecessors, yet still made over $371 million at the box office, I'm sure they'll eventually trot another one out there.

Talk about Skynet being lowered to the role of a James Bond villian. How about the aspect that Skynet knew it had John Conner cornered on its turf and, to take advantage of this fantastic situation, it sends ONE freaking terminator to get him...Yeah, good plan Skynet.

I'm glad Bale made them changed the script. If he hadn't, it would have ended with John Conner dying and the resistance putting his skin over Sam Worthington's character...

For some reason...I didn't hate this movie.

Better than T3 IMO

I thought it was bad, but I've seen it more than once.

I'm a Terminator fanboy though, and have been wanting a Terminator movie set in the future since the first one came out.

I thought it was a lot better than the third one.

In all reality, they should have just used James Cameron's original ending to T2, and called it a wrap.

Bale freaked out on this? How stressful can "shoot the missile at the robot" really be?
