It was an odd response for him.

The writers must’ve really wanted to get in the scene where his childhood fanbase was calling him a wanker as he walked off the field in shame

And to be fair, it was an amazing moment

If there’s one thing they didn’t quite get right it’s Rupert. He became a caricature of himself rather than someone with an actual personality and story line. His behavior wasn’t believable at all.

How different would have things been if Rebecca, being the decent person she is, consoled Rupert for being called a wanker by the fans of his childhood team?

I know Rupert didn’t deserve any redemption, but that had to hurt, and in perfect TL form, some compassion would have really driven home the pain.

Great finale. They wrapped it up nicely.

Agree with other posters that Rupert’s resolution was a bit over the top.

And Richmond should have won the league.

That’s what I was thinking too. Him not being in Beard’s wedding scene, with everyone else positioned awkwardly, the random couple and baby (I think they were from “Beard After Hours” episode) and the the foggy like setting made me think he was dreaming.

I agree with this. His ending did not feel very Lasso-like.

I think Ted’s story line probably has a lot of notes with Jason’s real life, and I bet filming in England months out of the year is taking its tole in him given how somewhat messy his separation has gotten.

I do believe a lot of this came from Jason Sudeikis' real life. That divorce seemed ugly.

Succession fans in here might remember recently of Kendall threatening to lay in front of his ex-wife's car when she was taking the kids during election night.
Supposedly that was based off Jason Sudeikis. He threw himself under the car as Olivia Wilde was trying to leave. I'm rarely one to care about this stuff but for Succession and Ted Lasso to end in the same week...seemed fitting.

I also wanted a scene where he says bye to Nate and Roy.

Just wish Rebecca and Ted would have smashed just once. I couldn’t be around those tits for 3 years and not want to see them once

Loved the opening scene. It played on everyone thinking that Ted & Rebecca would sleep together…then it got weird having Beard roll out in a thong. So good

I think it was very close to a perfect finale.

The final season drew a fair amount of criticism on here- I don’t think all of it was deserved, but the filler from the long episode length felt a bit stale at times. they managed to tie a fair amount of it in, and I thought it was fairly well done overall, though I was waiting for a let down finale.
Most appreciated part: they let you know right away that they’re going to screw with you constantly (Ted at Rebecca’s house in the morning after telling her he has a doozie at the end of the last episode, Ted talking about how you never know how something will wind up at halftime, and that’s what makes it exciting, the triple off-post goal was pretty over the top but fitting for the writers just showing that they’re taking you for a ride, and even if you can predict the end, you’re not going to guess how we got there, then the through-net penalty kick, the offsides penalty, and, finally, when the paper said she sold 49% of the team- the amount of twisting had me waiting for Ted to be waiting for his family to come to England with that headline.

They real unforgivable story line of the season though is Keeley being a lesbian for a few weeks. It didn’t add to the character. It’s far fetched at best. If they were trying to promote bisexuality, they did a terrible job of it, and they sort of reduced her to an attention whore where she seemed to have quite a bit of depth when she was dating Roy. She should have ended up with him.

Jamie’s arc was one of my favorites. Unfulfilled love from his father was clearly the concept they wanted to nail home, but it is a little sad they didn’t show him either with a wife and kid or totally regressed and with Shandy (who made up with Keeley and was on a double date with Roy)

I’ll watch it again, because the s3 callbacks ran deep. But it was a great series wrap, and I don’t feel cheated by not having more of any of the characters.

They 100% aren’t.

None of these shows that produce “horrible wives” are. They do it unintentionally because they have such a skewed worldview.

So was that final scene with Keeley and Roy/Jamie the conclusion of that storyline? Just “you both suck and none of us are together”. Or was there something I missed in the montage that showed more?

Perhaps the greatest achievement in television history. Not only is Ted Lasso side-splittingly hilarious (seriously, don't drink anything while watching, you'll spit it up!), but it literally makes me a better person by watching it.

and I think we’ll see one.

I could see a spin off which is basically the same show without Ted and Beard. Call it Richmond FC and keep all the UK cast for filming.

‘Father and Son’ – Cat Stevens...I forgot how GREAT this song is...and was perfectly placed in the episode. Hit me in the feels!
