Wait, did they really call it that

No.

It will be hard for the alliance to protect Danny because he seems to be such a threat in individual challenges. People should pick up on the right relationship between Shan and Iliana, too, and try to break them up.

One can only hope.

This stuff makes me sad to see. Not because she shouldn't be proud to be a black woman, but because making her skin color the most important aspect about herself will forever hold her back.

She can't see it but:
quote:

in my business classes dominated by white men who feel entitled to the space they take up

This opinion is not really about the white men being entitled as much as its about her own insecurity created by:
quote:

a woman of color, a woman like me

Being the lens she views the world through.

That alliance, like almost all Survivor alliances, will crumble sooner rather than later due to paranoia.

Will it though? Normal alliances are based on a combination of personal relationships and mutual benefit. They usually crumble when the relationship deteriorates or (more often) the benefit of the alliance is no longer mutual.

This alliance is based solely on a deeper shared background. Yes its skin color based but white people, asians, and hispanics also share a skin color but have never formed an alliance based solely on that. In the real world, Black people have been taught that they stick together no matter what (in terms of dealing with other races). They don't rat on each other and they don't choose another race over their own. I am making no judgements on the cause or effect of this real life premonition but it definitely exists.

Basically I am saying that it is possible that the alliance sticks together because the deeper sense of community from outside the game may stop them from turning on each other. Especially given that it is on TV. The whole world will see that player X didn't have the other black players' backs and therefore he is an uncle tom or whatever.

I'm just saying that there are other factors and pressures with this alliance that a normal alliance doesn't have.

The bigger threat to the alliance is them being targeted because all 4 are pretty strong players. 2 of them hold at least one advantage, and other players know they have them. Even a hint of them being aligned is going to make them even bigger targets.

I feel like the players outside the alliance would have to all realize that the alliance exists in the next episode or 2 to stop it from dominating. If the alliance uses it's advantages right and stays secret (a strong ask in this season of dunces), they could get numbers and run shite.

They could also pull in a couple of people to get the numbers temporarily but the risk in that is revealing that there is a POC alliance and the new recruits could easily see that they don't fit the criteria for the long haul.

That's all an interesting theory, and I'm curious how it plays out, because in the past we've seen alliances based on shared backgrounds crumble due to paranoia. Usually it's the female alliance that tends to always materialize then fail, but I've seen it happen based on age, sexuality, and occupation before.

It makes me curious if being black is a strong enough outside force to keep them together? I guess we'll see. I would bet on the answer being no, they will eventually fail as an alliance due to paranoia or wanting to make the big blindside moves.

Watching older seasons, I realized what I like most about the older seasons that isn't the case anymore: the only advantage is the immunity idol!

Survivor was more of a straight-up competition/social game with that one added element as opposed to the current game which is riddled with confusing advantages. For Survivor to be as good as it used to be, they need to go back to this format.

i agree that there are way too many advantages.

deshawn used his extra vote last night and it was not even really noticed/a plot point.

with all that said, last night's episode was fricking incredible.

king xander.

Xander owned them hard. How did she 4get Evie knew her advantage? Girl voted out was only eye candy. Sore loser too who wouldn't have won anyway.

Sydney was the most narcissistic person I've ever seen on that show!

And I just LOVED how Xander played them! That was a top-10 Survivor move!

It takes a lot of effort to make me dislike a hot chick on survivor and she very much made me forget she was hot with her vanity.

It was also telling that she must have been that way not just in confessionals but also around camp cuz she got voted out pretty much because she didn't have any friends.

To be fair, only the idol has played a part in an actual vote this season. And it wasn't even played.

Not true. Deshawn played an extra ballot (cast both for Sydney) last night and it arguably was the deciding vote.
Evvie - 3
Deshawn - 3
Sydney - 4
If he doesn’t play it, there would have been a 3-way tie and Evvie probably gets voted out on the second ballot. If Sydney had not given up her vote to take the 1:6 shot at being safe, it would have been a 4-4 tie with her and Deshawn, and Sydney goes home on revote. If she had her vote and Deshawn did not use his extra ballot, then Deshawn goes home.

Any way you slice it, the extra vote played a part.

He played them both on Evvie.

Ended up 5 for Sydney, 4 for Evvie, 3 for DeShawn.

How? All she ever did was roll her eyes and talk to everyone like they’re stupid and talk about how great she thinks she is. She wasn’t good at the physical, social, or mental part of the game. She kind of stood around and sniffed her own farts.

Call me old school, but all that running around at tribal counsel is bullshite, Jeff shouldn’t never let that happened. I get it, it makes for good TV, but it’s annoying as hell.

And why does the players have to tell everyone they found an advantage!!!! Black chick shoulda keep her mouth shut.

Also on second thought l, that steal a immunity advantage was a curse, if you call someone out and don’t use instantly, then the whole group knows and you definitely move to top of chopping block.

Most advantages this season seem to be a curse or have massive baggage, seems like a theme.

I don't even think it makes good TV. You can barely hear them and they're just running around. They should not be allowed tribal conferences. Jeff used to just ask a few questions, let them talk a bit and them say it's time to vote. Much better TV, IMHO!
