Why on earth they don't bring back Russell Hantz is a mystery to me.

I always thought Rusell Hantz was the best player never to win.

That was Richard Hatch, not Russell Hantz.

He's on the short list.. but everyone hated him too much to vote for him.

Yeah, he was one of the best players, but he was never going to win the game with that play style. If he played a little more like Tony Vlachos he would have probably won, he was just too unlikable.

After his nephew got kicked off Survivor and his brother got kicked off Big Brother CBS decided they had enough of the Hantz family.

Plus both times he came back after his first two seasons aired and he was a known quantity... he was voted out immediately because no one wanted to play with him.

Hatch wrote the book on how to play survivor. A lot of the first season players were playing a singles strategy. Hatch created the first alliance and it won him $1m

It's been a long time since I've watched season 1, but I do remember one guy voting alphabetically all season. Very little strategy going on except for Richard.

Ironically, the player who voted alphabetically was a literal brain surgeon from Manhattan whose name escapes me.

I remember reading a very short story about Survivor before it aired and I told my ex I would recruit a group of people and vote out everyone. The story emphasized the survival aspect of the game.

Sean or Shawn or something like that I think.
