I think it depends on the hair. I'm white, but had an afro in HS and people always wanted to touch that shite.

Same. My schools growing up were majority black.

My older brother’s hair was a very different texture than mine when we were kids. I always wanted to rub his hair...because it annoyed the ever-loving sh$t out of him

Before this season it was a pretty funny show. It still pushed very liberal stances: pro-unionization, minimum wage increases, etc... but it was funny and made sense in a supermarket setting. This season has hit those leftist issues too just in a very preachy, unfunny way. It's a shame.
Agreed.
That last episode was horrible.

I was watching the Saints/Bucs game this past weekend and was paying attention to the commercials. They're (networks) over the top pandering to the AA community. It's so forced and contrived.
...and that's quite odd, considering they're now a second minority in this country.

They (younger people of color) also almost always want to argue about the notion of anyone can do anything if they set their mind to it. These people are mentally weak. They have no direction and want everything to be easy. It's easier to blame others than to work hard.
I have a 19 year old black guy who works for me that brings home about 500 a week, has a young child and isn't married. He spends about 150 a week going down to a studio that isn't worth a shite because his dream is to be a rapper. He has potential and isn't stupid but he is more focused on rapping than work.
My wife goes to schools and teaches the kids about child abuse. She says that about 90% of the kids she asks what they want to be when they grow up say that they want to be a rapper or pro athlete. This is the biggest problem with the young workforce. When they hear that they can be anything they want, they think that includes being famous with enormous amounts of wealth, every time. I think the idea is that if you want to be a teacher, you can work hard, go to college and be a teacher. Not work hard at 5'4 130 pounds and be a pro basketball player.

Love this show and hated this episode. Although I will say there were several things that did make me laugh.
My wife and I are noticing the SJW stuff in all of the shows we watch that have started back up recently. A lot of racism and bad cop stuff. I'm hoping it's just each show making their point and then moving on because I can't keep watching this week in and week out.

Okay, this makes sense to me.
As for the OP, Superstore seems to do 1 off the wall crazy SJW episode each season. The one that comes to mind the most for me is the episode when they tried to label an anti-transgender protestor as a bigot. LINK Hopefully they get back to being funny with the next episode.

This past episode was terrible, but the entire season has felt off to me. I don't think it has anything to do with Amy leaving either. The extended focus on COVID has sucked some of the life out of the show. There also seems to be something weird going on with the sound mixing where there are lots of odd silent moments in between dialogue. Definitely a different feel this season.

Is having a creative/artistic outlet a bad thing?
I have a real job, and music is my most expensive hobby. I don’t record music because I genuinely believe my albums will make me rich and famous. I do so because I need that emotional/creative release. I need to make things in a way that I don’t get to in my career. Recording is one of the few things that I look forward to in this life.
How is recording music any less of a waste of money than restoring classic cars, fishing, hunting, rc planes, live sports, or whatever else people spend their money and free time on?
I understand the criticism that hobbies are luxuries, and spending too much on said luxury over time can have a significant impact on one’s ability to save up money, but let’s be honest, where else is that money gonna go for him? Towards consumables? Better food? Higher-priced rent? Video games and a better cell phone plan? At least he’s spending it on making something that gives his life a little more joy and meaning.
Stop acting like a few grand a year in the pursuit of a legit hobby is the difference between becoming a wealthy successful business owner and being a working pleb all of your life.

I'm shocked nobody has canceled him since he's actual an able bodied actor. I also never understand who these lectures are for, it just pisses off a large portion of your audience.
What?! Sounds like I need to go on a crusade.

For $150 a week, he could have built himself a really nice home studio if he's wanting to drop that much time and money into rapping.

The guy he described is spending 30% of his pay on a vanity project when he has a mouth to feed. There is something wrong with that no matter how you feel about having hobbies.

Yeah, it was good for its first three seasons or so. Haven't really watched it the last few years.

I was actually happy when she left because her character has grown pretty stale. She was hardly funny in the first few seasons and has been pretty unfunny the past couple of seasons. Glen as store manager was / is much better.

Watched this last episode and hated it. I agree with whoever said you can bring politics into a show and still be funny, and this show has done that well in the past. But that's not what this is/was. This was lecturing your audience incessantly. There were a couple of moments that made me chuckle and had glimpses of how good of a show this can be, but most of it just fell back into the whole "white man bad" routine and didn't even try to be funny or entertaining.
I am hoping it gets back to what it usually is soon, or else I may be checking out (although if this is the last season I may stick with it just to finish since I've been there since the beginning).
The only redeeming part of the episode for me was the whole pizza debacle. It was originally only for black employees, but the others felt left out so Glenn kept buying more for everyone else. THAT is what the show usually does well. But then it went back to the same browbeating bullshite that it started with.

So its ok for a guy making $500 a week to spend 30% of it on rapping every week, leaving just $350 a week to spend to food, house, clothe, and whatever else him and a child?
fricking ridiculous, and people wonder where we went wrong.

Yeah, I didn’t read too closely. At $500/week in income, that’s insane, but in general, it’s absolutely not.

It absolutely isn't. If he spent all weekend on his laptop doing it I would be 100% on board with it.

He spends 20-25% of his overall income on it. He has a kid that is less than 1 that he has no time or money for because he spends it all on rapping. Also, he won't put forth any effort to becoming better at his job because he has his dream of being a rapper.

He has no bank account, no savings at all whatsoever and no desire to own anything. He doesn't have a driver's license, he doesn't have a car, lives with his grandmother.

Just watched the episode. The only funny parts were the side gag where they're trying to get Sandra to go to a party.
