I don't think this show is popular here, but this is where I heard about it and have been watching it since. It sort of followed the format of "The Office" and had a similar feel. The first 2 seasons were very good, then SJW wokeness started becoming main storylines. Last week, the whole episode was one long diatribe on racism and reparations.

Garrett's Townhall Goes Off the Rails

Comedy is dead

ETA: Apparently so is this show. I just realized it has been cancelled and this is the last season. Go figure.

You snowflake! How dare you criticize a show for pandering and forced moralizing! You must be TRIGGERED!

I always looked forward to new episodes. I started watching the newest episode recently and turned it off after 10 minutes. It was horrible and not funny at all. At least the earlier stuff was still funny even though it was extremely left leaning this was just bad.

It was one of the few decent comedies left on network TV. I thought the political / woke stuff in earlier seasons was lame but it was still overall funny and entertaining. I stopped the show last week about 10 minutes in as well but decided to sit through the rest of it to see if they redeem themselves. They didn't.

For some reason I watched that whole clip. Have never seen that show before.

I think they hit the problem on the head.

They say, "I don't know who told you not to see color..."

This is what I encounter every day. Younger AA people want you to see their color, but you better see it in whatever way they approve of. And nobody has any idea what way that is. They (younger people of color) also almost always want to argue about the notion of anyone can do anything if they set their mind to it. These people are mentally weak. They have no direction and want everything to be easy. It's easier to blame others than to work hard.

Rant over.

Never watched that show before. If that clip is indicative of what it's like, I haven't missed anything. It must be a miserable existence, white or black, seeing racism at every turn. To have something as trivial as skin color dictate your life. Yeesh.

Oh yeah, I'm glad this is back. Calton Dunn (Garrett) wrote this episode so I'm sure it will great for normal folks. I'll watch tonight.

Before this season it was a pretty funny show. It still pushed very liberal stances: pro-unionization, minimum wage increases, etc... but it was funny and made sense in a supermarket setting. This season has hit those leftist issues too just in a very preachy, unfunny way. It's a shame.

NBC would kill The Office if it existed today. Michael wouldn't be allowed to exist. "Diversity Day" would have been the end of the show, and if not that, then "Gay Witch Hunt."

Exactly. I thought the Mateo illegal immigration storyline was kind of lame but it didn't take away from the comedic element of the show, outside of that ridiculous montage of ICE officers pursuing him in the store.

The earlier seasons tended to make the overly political and progressive “woke” people the butt of the joke. Jonah tried so hard to be Mr. cultured NPR douche while working at the store to prove how smart, important, and caring he is. It’s all a front for him being insecure and selfish.

Amy often tries to virtue signal to seem hip, current, and keep the peace on the job, usually failing miserably at all three.

Garret uses PC culture as a way to get out of work and torture his coworkers.

Glen is basically just a straw man to make fun of evangelical christians, but it’s usually done so in a funny way because he’s always shown to be a genuinely good and well-meaning person, just weird, blissfully ignorant, in over his head, or weak.

I HATED the Mateo ICE storyline. I haven’t watched any of the latest season.

The thing is, you can bring politics into a show and still be funny. Parks and Rec accomplished that well. I'm a conservative and thoroughly enjoyed the show, despite the main character being more liberal. When you turn a scene into a lecture, though, it loses the comedy aspect.

The clip is mildly funny.

I did like the episode where the company photographer was hunting the black guy in the wheel chair because promoting the company with a handicapped minority would be like bagging a unicorn.

I'm shocked nobody has canceled him since he's actual an able bodied actor. I also never understand who these lectures are for, it just pisses off a large portion of your audience.

I recently rewatched the first 4 seasons and yes, about half of the episodes wouldn't have been made or have been altered dramatically to be more pleasing to the SJW crowd.

Michael was the butt of the joke 99% of the time but that wouldn't have been good enough because it portrayed his un-PC'ness as born out of cluelessness, not malice.

You really think they're going to let Michael put sharpie on a Asian waitress to tell her apart? Just one example of many.

Always with the white people want to touch my hair stuff. I've never seen that in real life.

The Dominican/Puerto Rican thing was funny.

Maybe that’s a thing among white folks who grow up in areas completely bereft of black people

I grew up going to public schools and having plenty of black kids in all my classes, after school activities, and sports teams growing up, so I don’t know how someone who didn’t grow up that way would feel never having been around a black person prior to adulthood.

I suspect that a lot of progressive hollywood and tv writers grew up in small northern towns and segregated suburbs of ny/chi/la having never had a real serious conversation with a black person until college.

I find it weird that anyone would want to touch anyone else's hair, regardless of the race of either individual. Even weirder that such a person would actually ask.
