1964, huh? 12¢ comic book stories is what you think James Gunn was hired for in 2025?
Even Donner’s ‘78 Superman wasn’t that cheesy.
We’re 50 years into big budget superhero movies but sure. Play dumb.

It’s the same failed schtick they always use. Taking one off bits and pieces from comics totally disregarding the storylines or arcs they’re connected to just to excuse whoever they’re shilling for. Perfect example is the Shalla-Bal swap, a character that was in like 5 panels of a completely different story but saying it’s ok to break cannon and story to insert the character when we know it’s being done for political reasons. These people are liars, it can’t be said enough.

If comics were all equally camp & “for kids”, why’d studios sink 100’s of millions into adapting them into blockbuster movies? And for mostly older audiences?
Whether it’s the death of Gwen Stacy or a yellow Thanos - copter with his name on the side, most readers understand that not all stories, runs or characters are treated equally.
That’s why with thousands of different issues , characters and stories to choose from over multiple decades, it takes real creativity and purpose to choose a solid, theatrical project.

Bottom line, those posters aren’t fans of these characters and stories so they don’t care. They’re just shills so they’re going to find excuses no matter how ridiculous they are.

I never thought I would say this but I agree 100%!
There is thousands upon thousands of different stories told with countless different characters.
That's why it is so weird when people get so hung up on if something is "canonical" enough or not. Like I have issues of the Punisher where he is a literal demon, a black man, Frankenstein's monster, an angel, the last person on Earth, Ghost Rider, and countless others. It always depends far more on the writer to deliver the story than the idea behind the story.

Also, Kathleen Kennedy is going to retire - mark it down.
A person in their 70s might decide to retire? HOLY shite!!!!

There was a thread here this week dedicated to bitching about the new Sue Storm having more responsibility and character complexity than the version originally conceived in the 60s.
Superman can't be modeled on Silver Age-style storytelling, and you're not allowed to make any changes to characters to make them slightly more modern. Got it. Whining is the only way of proving yourself a real "fan" of these comics you've never read.

Making Sue a Mary Sue isn’t exactly in the egalitarian spirit of the original. She bossing the FF as they face the initial meeting of Silver SurfHER is just inserting more of The Message and we all know how that’ll work out.
Not great.
Not great.
