But you're wrong. Anything north of 500 mil WW is break-even for Superman. That is in the bag. Ancillary revenue (streaming, home video, merchandise, etc.) puts it over the top in a meaningful way.

I’m not wrong. Take production cost plus promotion cost. Those two numbers together, which are usually below *“actual” numbers, and the studio usually gets between 40 and 50% of that total.
Movie theaters need to make money too, they don’t show movies for free.
* Studios usually lie on the low end to make investors feel more comfortable, make themselves look better to the industry.

No, just don’t care about this topic do much, but continue on with your ad hominem nonsense instead of actually dealing with the issues. I see several on this board has gotten very good at that, lacking any real substance.

I beg to differ.

Ok, if you're going to add marketing to the budget, then you need to add all the ancillary revenue to the box office number.

First of all, you always add promotion and marketing to production cost. That’s not anything new. And yes, they make merchandise to help profit as well. It’s part of the whole licensing thing. And don’t forget rental sales, etc.
But the idea that just because a movie makes 400 million globally that’s a pile of cash sitting in the Warner Brothers DCU account. That’s not even close to making their money back.

Is the box office run over? It's going to cross 600 and a small possibility of hitting 700. That's a good start for this new universe.

400 bones after 2 weekends is pretty amazing in this Hollywood climate.
Anyone saying otherwise is just sour-graping.

Keep in mind that back in 2014, it was reported that MOS made $277 mil in licensing deals.
Superman 2025 is in great shape.

Just because a thing does better, does not mean other thing bad.
Reggie Miller was a great basketball player.
Jordan was better
Is Reggie bad now, because Jordan was better?
