I loved that Anette O'Toole played Martha. Great call back to the *3rd Reeve Superman movie.

* Still a good callback

Superman sure does need a lot of help now. And still has to worry about Kryptonite on top of that. Didn’t know he was considered a metahuman.

This was the best superhero movie I have seen in a while. Maybe since Infinity War?

He isn't. Lex makes a clear distinction.

From the opening crawl:

3 YEARS AGO, the baby, now grown, announced himself as SUPERMAN, the most powerful metahuman of all.

Just look at how the Kents have been portrayed on screen and then compare that to what we see in this movie.

From Puck News

quote:

Gunn’s “ego” saved DC millions:

If Superman opens big this weekend, as is now expected, it won’t be due to star power. Of the 20 or so principal castmembers introduced onstage and in the audience at the Chinese Theatre premiere on Monday night, there was not a single big movie star among them. “I think I’m really good at finding people who become huge stars,” DC’s James Gunn bragged to CNN, admitting to a “bit of an ego” about casting. (So there’s Chris
Pratt in Guardians and… who else?)

Nicholas Hoult, who got $2 million to play Lex Luthor, is the highest paid in the Superman cast, per three sources. Makes sense; he’s an established name in film. David Corenswet earned just $750,000 to don the blue and red Underoos—about the going rate for unknowns in franchise roles. Rachel Brosnahan, a TV star untested in film, also earned $750,000 as Lois Lane. All three are in line for box office bonuses if Superman performs, of course. Gunn may have cast with his eye rather than his wallet, but his strategy is likely a hit with Warner Discovery C.E.O. David Zaslav, who seemed downright giddy when I bumped into him at the premiere—and that was before the positive reviews dropped. It’s also a far cry from Man of Steel, in 2013, which surrounded a then-unknown Henry Cavill with the much pricier
Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, and Russell Crowe.

Who the F are you? Schrödinger’s movie review?

What’s on the film doesn’t change whether I see it or not.

It is what it is.

Domestic is off to strong start. International is concerning

International is much different than the domestic market. It's basically DOA in Asia and falling fast in Europe. Domestic will need to do all the heavy lifting

Boravia is censoring it, and they have no theaters in Jarhanpur, only pirated VHS tapes in street markets.

I'd watch. Mr. Terrific stole the movie for me. He also had the best battle scene. It reminded me of when Star-Lord puts on his headphones and goes to work.

Good thing they took out “the American way” from anywhere in the movie…

Oh wait.

Lastly, at $22.5 million, Superman has crushed the $9 million that Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel grossed back in 2013 to snag the title for best preview box office for a solo Superman movie. However, Gunn’s Superman was not able to best the massive $27.7 million preview box office of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, meaning that the 2016 movie will hold onto the record for best previews for a movie featuring the Man of Steel.

While early box office tracking for Superman suggested an opening weekend of around $100 million, those estimates have now risen to between $140 million and $150 million, thanks to the strong Thursday previews. With international markets expected to do $100 million-plus, Warner Bros. and DC Studios are looking at a global opening weekend of $250 million or greater for Superman.

22 million in previews from Tues/Thurs

Better than Lilo & stitch, Minecraft and Barbie..

Saw it today. I would say it’s fair. Not good, not bad.

Same here. There were things I really liked and things I didn't.

I din't like the Portrayal of the Kents as simply country folk to the point of almost hicks.

The Musica Selection was not inspirational.

I thought Luther was on of the best portrays I've ever seen.

Mr. Terrific IMO stole the movie

I went out of my way to post in this thread as I'm not a movie junkie. I wouldn't know what makes for good plot devices, character arcs, themes, narratives, or musical scores. Having said that, this is one of the best super hero movies I've seen in a really long time and I think that's the point... someone like me who doesn't go into a movie with a critical eye enjoyed the hell out of this movie. I might even go a 2nd time to see it.
