I think it depends on what you had in your head a Superman movie SHOULD be and does that align with your personal expectations. instead of going in fresh and taking it in.

It's pretty crazy how different the ratings are for some of the reviewers. Some love it and others are severely disappointed.
My sense is that it'll make enough money from Gunn fanboys and foreign markets to keep it from being in the red, but that it'll fall short of what WB was hoping for, profit-wise. Especially in domestic theaters. Fingers will be pointed, but both sides in the debate will declare victory regardless. But ill bet that it’s Asian markets that makes the flick cross the profitability line.

I think it outperforms the 100 million projections
I am becoming more optimistic, based on what i am hearing
I bet it has a strong week 2 from word of mouth

the comics, Lex's motivations are closer to Batman's motivations for having a Superman contingency plan. They both see Superman as a threat, but Lex sees him as an active threat while Batman views him as a potential threat.
Betraying my age here, but thats a fairly recent take on Luthor. He began as your prototypical “mad scientist who wants to rule the world” archetype, straight out of 30’s pulp sci-fi magazines that comics writers from the 50’s to the ‘80’s grew up reading. There was no Lexcorp, no political runs. Luthor had a scheme of the month… a new deathray, a new mutant animal, a new kryptonite trap. He paid for his exotic gear by stealing. He was a straight up villain. Hell, he had his own costume. In many ways, that was a better kind of villain than the jealous captain of industry that John Byre re-imagined. I miss that old mad scientist Luthor.

Ah yes the classic Kaiju defense of clearly everything that fricks with my own reality has to be fake news or paid shills

It’s pretty common knowledge rotten tomatoes is a garbage review site.

#3 and #4 being so controversial to people really triggers me
And now I have another spot for members of my beloved World’s Finest
“And we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it”

d. I miss that old mad scientist Luthor.
I think this Lex has the potential to show some of that stuff off in interesting ways.
I’ll really be excited when we get armored suit Lex

It's garbage when you don't agree with it and great when you do also are just not trusting audience ratings now? Y'all do love flip flopping

He showed a lot of that in this movie already.

Ignore Disney planted reviews claiming wokeness. The critics have a competing film out in 2 weeks. Part of the attack by reviewers actually gets debated on screen.
I was assured by the Marvel fanboys during the Snyderverse movies were coming out that this never happened.

100%, I just meant that seeing him do that in this one makes me wonder what’s next to up the ante

No, it’s been garbage since *Captain Marvel, I believe.
Yep, called it!

Rotten Tomatoes has officially dropped its traditional Audience Score in favor of a new “verified ratings Popcornmeter” system which will only measure ratings from fans who have actually purchased tickets through Fandango (owner of Rotten Tomatoes).
The announcement marks the first major change to Rotten Tomatoes since back in 2019 following the *Captain Marvel controversy when Rotten Tomatoes dropped the audience “Want To See Feature.”

Gunn's Superman does not come close to any of those others
Replace it with Snow White
