I'm providing what people saw as a counter. You don't have to like it. I'm not sure it was enough for me either in the moment. If the call to Tom on the jet about the relationship had happened after she found out about him being the CEO, then that probably would have been better for me. The writers probably think it was a big enough hint that she could go back to Tom, but the order they gave it makes it seem that was erased.
I just don’t think it’s a terrible stretch that Shiv at the last moment had the epiphany that she could gain more by controlling Tom versus actually having to work for her place under Kendall.
And being married to Tom with their kid on the way basically puts her in a position to have her own little dynasty, like Daddy.
That said, I don’t think she realized until after the fact that she sold her soul for that. Hence her reaction in the car.

Controlling Tom how? Tom can tell her to kick rocks minus the kid.

She’s always manipulated Tom in the past. I think she assumes she will be able to continue to do so. Especially being pregnant with his kid.
Like I said earlier though, it’s a gross miscalculation on her part. Tom as CEO doesn’t need her to be legitimate anymore.

I don't think Greg was ever an option. Best he could hope for was to keep his spot maybe move up a bit.

I haven't read much of the reaction but here's my take:
While I was rooting for Kendall I'm ok with the outcome bc as we all know, they are all terrible ppl and don't deserve shite. That said I have a hard time figuring out Shiv's motivation for so thoroughly fricking herself. With Ken as CEO she still wields quite a bit of power and even has an outside shot of weaseling her way to CEO someday. Now that seems totally out of the question.
The only possible explanation is that she suddenly, for the first time in her entire life, decided to do the "right thing". Which of course would be a sudden and dramatic contradiction in her character
Also BTW I guess we will never know if the blood vial thing with Ebba was real or not and I guess the fraudulent numbers were just a whimper after being made (and rightfully so) out to be a massive problem

Ya I'm not bothered. They didn't do something dumb like make Greg the CEO or anything like that. It would be one thing if Shiv had never shown this side of herself, Kendall being a try hard and so on. This isn't Bran from GOT who disappeared for two seasons.

She’s a nobody barely married to the ceo compared to a board member. Even for an emotional animal, it’s not believable for a selfish person.
She's worse than a nobody. Her biggest problem now is her last name. Nobody in power (meaning Tom or Mattson or any future people) are gonna let her anywhere near the table bc they will all be too threatened by her last name to trust her not to stab them in tbe back and try to take power
Tom knows it from experience but others will never allow a Roy that close in fear they will try to use their connections with the company to seize control

I love you, but you are not serious people."
Bout sums it up. Any idea how much they all get from the sale?

It’s purely selfish, she cannot live with her idiot brother being ceo. There is no strategy or chess moves at work here, she just hates Ken being ceo

But she didn't hate it less than 24 hours before that, and nothing was shown to happen in the interim that would warrant her change of mind. It just came out of nowhere. So the "just hates him as CEO" ignores what was actually shown during the final episode.

Well we have 4 seasons of the children all essentially fighting one another and 1 kitchen scene where the children are kinda getting along. The history of the characters is that this is on brand for all of them and honestly it would have been more shocking for them all to end up getting along.
I do think the 1 minute where Kendall is ceo and acting like a jackass played a part in reminding shiv who she is dealing with. He was always pretty bad in the board room.

When the kids were trying to buy Pierce, it was mentioned. I don't remember the exact number but it was north of 1 billion each.

Believe Shiv said when the kids were talking about buying Pierce that they'd each net 2-3 billion.

I guess Shiv spitting in the concoction was poison for Kendall.

That entire day Ken is acting like a jackass like he always does throughout when he thinks things are going well.
He can’t even make a token speech about why they feel they should take over the company and not sell.
He is not a serious person and shiv knows that but was blinded the night before by the fact that she’s getting betrayed by mattson

I keep seeing people saying what Shiv did doesn't make since. These are not smart people. Shiv very rarely thinks and is emotional.
GOJO may have not had the money outright but enough to buy half the company with stock options.
The board doesn't care about the numbers because they make a shitload off of the deal and in the right hands the company is a gravy train that will keep feeding them.

I have to disagree. I think the ending is perfect for putting a bow on it all. All of the kids are “not serious people” and the way it ends perfect sums it up. They agreed for a bit but shiv couldn’t stomach Kendal actually winning.
HBO/Max/whatever it’s called wins again
