The strength of Stranger Things is that it’s mainstream sci fi/horror built on nostalgia. In a world now seemingly devoid of good, thought out original story concepts it at least does a serviceable job of respecting the audience with the extended plot and providing some quality entertainment. That being said, for as original as it is for a tv series, it’s not seeking to be super high concept and is purposefully derivative.

If you go into it expecting Terminator 2/Aliens instead of Blade Runner/Alien, you’ll enjoy it.

I watched a recap video for Seasons 1-3. I started a re-watch of Season 4. I have 2 more episodes left.

I've seen this theory floating around that the whole show was a D&D campaign and it ends with them still as kids sitting in Mike's basement playing.

God I hope not. That sounds like a light beer version of the Lost ending.

Ugh, gross. Can't imagine they do that.

I've avoided anything even remotely close to s spoiler. Haven't even watched the S5 trailer actually.

I've seen that theory years ago so it's been around for a while. But it has surfaced again. I really don't think they'd go that direction with it.

Here's an article that popped up on MSN this morning.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/tv/stranger-things-fans-convinced-they-ve-figured-out-how-season-five-ends-and-they-re-not-happy/ar-AA1R3rko

ETA: The Duffer Brothers have also said in interviews that most of the fan theories they have seen are completely wrong. So that's a good sign.

I can’t wait but I haven’t finished my rewatch yet. Gonna be late on Vol 1 and hope to watch Vol 2 on time

Same. Hope someone posts a good one here.

Just linked the most viewed recap video on YT in the OP. Didn't watch it so can't confirm how good it is but it has over 500k views. 27 minute recap.

One theory out there, is that the counselor is orchestrating everything. Was seeing all the kids that were taken over by Vecna in S4 and she wears a key around her neck, similar to the key of a grandfather clock like the one in S4 and that chimes whenever he approaches.

That training scene they released of Eleven was lame as shite, straight from Rise of Skywalker

I have a weird feeling that she is going to legit be able to fly. Sounds dumb but she's going to have to take her powers to the next level and her floating while closing the wall in S2(?) has me thinking she might.

Not even close. Dark is one of my favorite shows ever. Stranger Things is just a fun watch. Doesn't take itself nearly as serious as Dark.

Not really a valid comparison as they aren't the same kind of show. Dark is suspense/drama, Stranger Things is light-hearted adventure. There's elements of sci-fi touching both but it's two different things

Solid recap of the first 4 seasons here if you don’t feel like binge watching the whole seasons again

That's the one I have linked in the OP. Glad it's a good one Kinf of glad i waited so long to watch S4 so it's still fresh on my mind. Lord knows I would have forgotten everything if I watched when it aired.

I wonder if these will be 1.5-2 hr episodes like S4? That will keep me occupied even though they’re only releasing 4 episodes today

I think they've only released times for the first four episodes.

quote:

Chapter One: The Crawl – 1 hour and 8 minutes
Chapter Two: The Vanishing of Holly Wheeler – 54 minutes
Chapter Three: The Turnbow Trap – 1 hour and 6 minutes
Chapter Four: Sorcerer – 1 hour and 23 minutes

I would imagine the finale will be a 2 hour one.

Sweet I just binged S1-S4 the past couple months as part of my Halloween viewing marathon so just need to watch that recap on my lunch break prior to tonight.

This is one of my favorite shows for the 80s nostalgia alone. Hopefully the characters haven’t aged too much to make them awkward seeming. Haven’t looked at anything related to S5 so as not to spoil anything but a lot of them are practically adults now.
