It's lost so much popularity that they are doing unprecedented things. Putting the finale in movie theatres across the world on new years eve.
If season 5 lands it will go down as one of the best tv shows ever made. The music, the story, the characters, the whole ET and goonies 80's world the duffer brothers created. So many shows don't land the final season and ending. GOT, Lost, Dexter, How I met your mother. It does seem like they have a vision for the ending for a while now.

Do you work on the show? You need to calm down. It’s not at all the phenomenon you’re making it out to be. It was and could have been, but the last two seasons were very meh.. with laughable 3 year gaps between them. Netflix’s marketing doesn’t change the fact that they effectively killed the show by letting the actors age a decade then trying to shoehorn them back into a story that no longer makes sense.
Should have ended after season 3.

Is someone paying you to work against the show?
this is the dumbest take i've ever seen. You have been literally wrong about everything you have said. You must have slept thru covid and the writers strike.

What would that be, exactly? That they have taken way too long to tell a story that doesn’t require 10 years to tell?
That interest isn’t anywhere close to what it would have been if they just worked and made the show as a yearly season?
It was slow as shite even before the writers strike, and it’s been even slower after.
You’re only retort is “look how much money Netflix is spending to promote the final season” which they only have to do because everyone forgot it even existed.

when it breaks records viewership wise. You can never post in here again?

It is likely that Stranger Things season 5 will break viewership records, as its release date announcement video has already broken Netflix records for impressions. The show's history of record-breaking seasons and the anticipation for the final conclusion make it a strong contender to set new viewership records upon release

I'm going to watch it. I like the show. Was much bigger on it the first two seasons when they were actually working on making the show. Everyone is going to watch it.
They still took alot of my interest away by not working for years in between. It was the same with GoT, and is becoming the same thing with HotD, etc. and other similar shows.
I'm sure it will get almost universal netflix viewership, no doubt. That doesn't change that it would have been a better show and a better plot had they actually made it in a reasonable time frame and weren't (self) forced into rewriting the last two seasons because they let the actors age a decade.
You seem to take my criticism as me saying it sucks. It doesn't, though I thought the 4th season was pretty bad and rushed despite a three year development period.

holy mother of crawfishing
Stranger things had a higher viewership than GOT also. I'd bet money they will not strike out like GOT did it's final season.
Season 4 ST was the best season. LOL
Covid and writers strike. They were working on it.

To each their own. I thought it sucked.

Very very hard I’m sure. That’s why it’s been years since the strike and the enormous season gaps started before either of those things.

1000%
It had the potential to be one of the greatest scifi series ever...but then........we waited for season 2.....................................we waited for season 3....................................................................................................we waited or season 4, and along the way we all stopped giving a shite.

Season 2 came out a year after season 1. Haha
Season 3 came out 1.5 years after season 2
Then covid hit after that.

Yep don't remember much from last season
But I do remember it being very good, albeit with incredibly long episodes
How do people have time for 80-90 minutes episodes

Me and my son just started a rewatch. We’re only four episodes in and didn’t realize how slow things went. S1E4 things started to ramp up. We know where it goes but it was fun watching how it was setup. We think we can get trough the series before the reboot.

I loved it at first but damn...takes to long. I have not seen S3 or S4 and didn't even know about S5.
I guess I "get this shite from" it being true.

I watched the show for the first time From July-September this year. I'm extremely grateful I didn't have to wait this out like everyone else.
Same.
My kids have been watching it from the start and I'd come through the house and be like, "Hold up. I thought this was about aliens... Now there are Russians?"
So I finally got into it this summer and watched from S1E1 to the end. I get it. Great show and I'm excited for the finale.
Something I picked up on that my kids missed because I watched it all at once... Ever notice how the disappearance of Will was not by a demagorgan like the one that got Barb? It's clearly Vecna as you see a silouhette of a human type body and it uses telekinesis to unlock the chain on the front door. Demagorgans didn't have that power. He was there the whole time building his power.
As to the ending, it's obviously going to be a final battle between 11 and Vecna where all hope will seem lost but right at the end she'll say something to the effect of "Good always wins" and blow him to smitherines as the cracks all seal up. It has to be. No way the bad wins although that would catch people by surprise.
