I agree but I think they need to stop after season 4. You can see at certain points the writing isn’t quite as solid throughout but when it’s good, it’s some of the best in the series.

Or he just jumped into the area near the Gate and the Russians grabbed him before the American cavalry showed up. Murray and Joyce had time to crawl back to the green canister room before the Americans showed up.
Notice that there is a ladder leading down near the front of the KEY machine. And Hopper isn't there (maybe it's a CGI mistake?) when it blows up. Also, I doubt any argument that it wasn't shown because they trying to avoid gore after they graphically showed us what happened when the first machine exploded at the start of Season 3.

I love that dude and the face he made when Dustin was singing to Suzie over the radio made me laugh my arse off lol. In the last two seasons when Nancy/Jonathan and Joyce/Hopper were at his place, he looked like he just wanted to scream

Unquestionably the worst season of the series. Felt like they lost their innocence and began pushing agendas. I don't know, at the end of it I was left wondering why the frick any of this ever happened? Why were russians on US soil opening up the gateway? It was shallow and not well thought IMO.

I just wanted to point out that they fricked up the subtitles at least once. The Russian guy clearly says "You're going to regret that little girl." The subtitles say "You're going to regret that little bitch."

She also made extradimensional contact. Which opened the way between their world and the upside down.
The Russians getting info on this go to open their own gate as a way to get an invasion route open/search for resources all that.
Edit: [they can't and Russia ends up developing the mall to further entrench Hawkins as a Derry expy.]

Hopper didnt consider El was capable of making her own decisions. If she wants to make out with a boy in her room for 6 hours every day of the summer, that's her choice. Hopper was being a bit tyrannical in his rage against her independence. A point of suffering for many American females in their teenage years. I agree with the article.

She’s 14 and can barely even function in the real world b/c she grew up as a government lab rat. His first daughter died of cancer. Of course he’s overly protective of her.
