I was too young in the early 80’s and my folks never watched. I knew vaguely of JR and Bobby, but not much else. I’m two seasons in, and I find myself loving JR and laughing at how Cliff Barnes gets the rug pulled out from under him every time he’s on the cusp of success. There’s plenty of ludicrous plot lines, 2 kidnappings in season 2 alone, but they work in a lot of familiar surroundings which is pretty cool. They had an episode where they went hunting on Caddo Lake, discuss Shreveport, etc. All in all, it’s been a nice dose of nostalgia from my early childhood seeing the hairstyles, clothes, and cars. If you don’t know much about Dallas you will either love or hate JR. I prefer to love.

Poor Cliff Barnes, JR always gets the better of him, never sees it coming.

The theme song is one of the best. Pam is definitely a smoke show. Sue Ellen’s sister is pretty hot too.

It’s a great show and pretty nuanced too.
Funny how people were always, always, drinking and also often shown working late into the evening.
The intermittent club/bar scenes are cool.
Later seasons, they were always swimming too. Which was especially nice when Pam was.

And the frequent huge Ewing bashes that always ended in calamity.

I drive by Southfork Ranch all the time and take for granted people from around the world were obsessed with Dallas and fly around the world to see that place.

I remember watching as a kid at my grandparents house when I was over there. I went back and watched most of the season a few year ago. Its a good 80s soap

The Dallas remake they had on TNT a few years ago was awesomely bad
Lots of good looking women

I have had a few events hosted out there and past by when a kid has a game out in Wylie.

That house is so small, compared to what you thought it would be

By todays standards everyone on the show, maybe with the exception of Miss Ellie, would be considered an alcoholic. I love how as Sue Ellen is struggling with alcoholism it never crosses their mind to put away the booze.

Same. My grandmother hated JR

I've watched up to Season 3 on Amazon Prime. Damn good show.

A House Divided may be the best written hour of dramatic television ever. Built to a crescendo at the end.

Does this show have a continual plot or is it a new theme from week to week type of show

The first couple of seasons are week-to-week with some continuing plot threads. It becomes serialized in the third season onward.

I went in the tour of southfork. I was surprised at how small the house was. For some reason when I was young, I used to think it was a huge mansion lol

It started my 1st year of college..When it first started I watched it every week and talked to people about it.. I think I watched it that way thru the Who Shot JR season I lived in Dallas from 1983-2010. After I moved out there, I watched to see buildings where I visited clients, or restaurants, and other places I knew, but didn't keep up with it, or talk with anyone at work about it.

At work we were talking about how bad the Cowboys were, whether Roy Tarpley was going to ever play for the Mavs again,. or about what bar was best for finding ecstasy.
