What makes someone a Sith?
Or was that an made up thing from the prequels?

Kylo isn't a Sith. I posted this earlier -
quote:
This is actually where the series has already gone - Kylo isn't considered a Sith, but more of a "Dark Jedi".
"The Supreme Leader believes Ren to be the ideal embodiment of the Force, a focal point of both light and dark side ability."
"But Kylo Ren is no Jedi, nor is he a Sith. He is the archetype of a new generation of dark side users that have emerged to fill the void left by the Sith's demise."

quote:That's like saying this dying by a bullet to the head is better than dying by fire... They weren't the worst parts because the prequels were so damn bad. But they were still terrible because they weren't utilized at all. Both characters were boring as frick and talent was wasted completely.
Dude, Christopher Lee and Samuel L. Jackson were some of the best parts of the prequels

Eh fair enough. but it is out there that Snoke is Sith. I'm not Googling it for anyone.
ETA: But my point about Kylo Ren's saber being an ancient Sith design was in the Visual Dictionary somewhere. I believe JJ also mentioned in an interview within the last few weeks as well.

quote:There's a lot of truth to this post. Growing up a Star Wars fan from seeing them from their premier, I honestly never really cared about centuries of Jedi, Republic and Sith lore. I wanted The Continuing Adventures of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, filmed all over this wonderful galaxy. I especially wanted this before Empire was released, because they were a fun crew along with Leia and Chewie.
They had to recycle the old actors. This movie was pandering. That's it.
Instead of using the MANY well crafted stories available from the e
Expanded Universe (so much movie worthy content in that.) they stuck Leathery Leia in there.
Honestly Han was the best part of the movie though so there's that.
But these movies should have been made decades ago while the characters were still young enough to reprise their roles without looking awful.
The new cast can't sniff the Magic the old cast possessed.
This galaxy seemed big, wild and rough, and in a general state of lawlessness and chaos. Han's derring-do and Luke's ability to slip into a half-trance and do something mystical and unmatched; Chewie roaring along in good humor, with the 3 way tension between the boys and Leia... it was all good.
The sequels went another direction, breaking up the team, and making them responsible and separate leaders. Luke rarely was onscreen with Solo any longer, and they certainly didn't work together in any battles of note.
The prequels went even further away from the swashbuckling roots, digging into Jedi and political backstory, at the expense of neglecting the actual characters we loved.
This movie does seem to address that, if a little bit too late to enjoy the decades of fun we could have had with Solo etc. The First Order blew up the Republic and it's fleets (was that Coruscant?), and now the Resistance is basically Chewie and Leia with the droids and the Falcon, a single squadron of X wing pilots (with some who do double duty as agents, like Poe), some support staff, and Finn, Rey... and then Luke.
This sets the scene for some more interplanetary wilderness adventures, in an uncivilized galaxy. In theory, they can now tell any story in any type of setting, with an undertone of "vs the First Order" in it.

According to Wookiepedia, None of the dark side guys in the films were actually of the Sith species save Darth Maul.

Um, Darth Sidious, Darth Vader, and Count Dooku were all part of the Sith that were seen on screen in the movies as well.
And again, Snoke is Sith. You don't have to believe me, but the fact is that Snoke is Sith.

The Sith Species has never been seen on film. The Sith of the films are followers of an ideal.

Like I said. It was retconned bullshite to try to salvage a stupid studio decision. They easily could have had a normal lightsaber, but couldn't stand the thought of not fricking with what worked to make it their "own unique spin".
Instead of sticking with the tried and true method of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

There's a reason his lightsaber is like that.

But it's not a fact
He may be plagous but doubtful
We do not know who he is at all.
Don't think you know the meaning of fact.

quote:Oh okay. I thought this movie sucked but now that I know there's nerd scholarship to back up the stupidity, I think it's awesome.
A single cracked kyber crystal, barely able to contain the weapon's power, necessitated the lateral vents which produced these crossguard quillons and gave the weapon's red plasma blades an unstable, serrated appearance. Kylo wielded this weapon while working alongside the Knights of Ren and the First Order.

You have argued me into thinking that it's a good movie. That's how it works. Enjoyment of art is arguable. I have been swayed.
